Members GENTLE Posted May 11, 2013 Members Posted May 11, 2013 Gary Bundy and Johnny Hagood 22lbs to win chamber . . . . . Again. Any thoughts?
bferg Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Impressive...guys in front if me weighed 18 lbs and I thought that was pretty salty. 22 is solid.
Members GENTLE Posted May 12, 2013 Author Members Posted May 12, 2013 Yeah, that would be solid, especially since this is the only tourney they ever fish on Beaver every year, this is the 4-5 time they've won it, always in top 3 when they dont win. Very solid, little too solid!! That's what I meant by,thoughts anyone?
Feathers and Fins Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 Never fished the Chamber but have fished other tourneys like it. Question do they check live wells and do they have spotter boats during the tournament? https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
bferg Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 FF- I didn't see any spotter boats. They don't check live wells because you can launch from anywhere on the lake- at any time. You just can't start fishing until your flight time starts.
Feathers and Fins Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 So its a pure Honor Tournament then? Man that just spells troubles seen it to many times in the past. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Guest Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 So its a pure Honor Tournament then? Man that just spells troubles seen it to many times in the past. Yeah, it leaves the door open. Its sad but I quit fishing those types of tournaments years ago. The Big Bass Bonanza on the Ark River is the same way. Launch anywhere, no livewell checks, etc. We fished it every year when I was a teenager and thru college. I witnessed lots of boating violations, crowding holes, etc. There's no sportsmanship at that level.
bfishn Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 Sort of OT but... Several years ago I bought a telescopic 'glass dippin' pole at a yard sale simply because it was 2 bucks. Beaver was up in the brush that spring (and I was between boats), so I grabbed my waders and some crappie jigs and drove to Monte Ne. Was wading the edge of the brush, probing it with the long pole when a couple guys in a bass boat flew 'round the corner and shut down when they saw me with a fish on that bendy pole. The fish jumped, showing to be a nice bass. One of the guys said he'd give me $50 for my fish. I told him I couldn't sell the fish, but I'd hand him the whole mess if he gave me $50 for the pole. They motored over within reaching distance while I kept tension on the fish, and we made the trade. One guy landed & livewelled the bass, and off they went, never wetting a hook while in sight. I can't dance like I used to.
Quillback Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 There's lots of room for some hanky-panky in these bass tournaments, I believe 98% of the participants are honest, but you've got that 2% that need to be closely watched.
