Old plug Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 All I know is what I see in nature around me. We have had a few birds at the feeders that we had never seen before and they were not suppose tobe this Far East. Then there are the armadillos. I never seen a live armadillo till about 3 yrs ago. But since then I have shot several. 5 or 6 last year alone. There sure is something going on and it seems to have been going on for the past several years.
bfishn Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 ... I never seen a live armadillo till about 3 yrs ago. But since then I have shot several. 5 or 6 last year alone... Way OT, but since many here come in contact with 'dillos, it's worth mentioning that a good percentage of 'dillos carry a strain of leprosy that can be be transmitted to humans. Not only direct contact with the critters, but contact with soils they recently rooted in (gardens?) can lead to infection. I thought it was more urban myth when I first heard it, but it turned out to be true. Lots of articles online, here's the scoop from the New England Journal of Medicine; http://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa1010536 I can't dance like I used to.

I have see scientific reports that say glaciers came down to about the Missouri River and covered most of Illinois. I am sure the armadillos were farther south back then. Quillback Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 I'd at least wear gloves if I was going to pick one up, or get it in the scoop shovel.

I'm too lazy for that, you can rub it in when I have the Leprosy. Quillback Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 LOL, OK, I'll send you a "Get well soon" card if you end up in a Leprosy colony.
