Might have sounded a little better. Probably would not have slammed the previous posters recommendations with the best, busiest, and most versatile. Sounds like I really don't want the business I'm to busy being the best and the busiest, but for sure don't want you to go with anyone else. Good information however. fishinwrench Posted July 25, 2013 Share Posted July 25, 2013 Yeah..... I dunno 'bout all that "Best" chest beating going on up there ^^^, but "busiest" is probably still true. From what I know the guiding business out of the two "lodges" is more like a babysitting gig. (Send dad and junior out fishing for a couple hours while Mom's at her meeting). Not that there's anything wrong with that if the guide has the patience for it. Helping someone catch fish that doesn't really even want to is a friggin drag! DChance Posted August 1, 2013 Share Posted August 1, 2013 Guys Jack is a standup guy and a great guide. I got to go out with Jack the end of this past June. He was very helpful, very nice, easy to fish with, willing to share some of his "secrets" and we even had a pretty good day....lol. Actually we had the best day I ever had on LOZ and I fish it quite often. He helped me learn and have confidence in a new technique and our best 5 bass between us went about 26 or 27 lbs!!! This was during the day at the end of June. It was about 95 that day if I recall. And to top it off, he caught a catfish and asked if I wanted to keep it. I said, "I would but I don't want to clean it...hahaha" he says, "no problem, I will clean it for you" and he did! can't beat that. I have heard this time of year that the guides will just go to brush piles on points and have you throw ten inch worms or jigs in10-30 ft of water. Is this the only approach this time of year? The guides will often suggest soaking a crawdad, but deep crankbaits (DD-22's and the like), C-rigged centipedes on humps, or pitching shallow docks and brush in 2-4' in certain areas will all catch some quality bass during late Summer. If you're going with a guide though you'll be better off playing to his particular strengths and taking his suggestions. If a day with him doesn't scratch your itch then go at it alone the following day using what you DID learn from him....cuz you WILL learn. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

DChance Posted August 11, 2013 Share Posted August 11, 2013 In August look for shad. If you find shad in a cove fish tje nearby docks. You can have a lot of fun fishing a fluke down the docks and off the corners. Imo your bigger fish will still be offshore and in the brush where tje big worm and football jig are king.
