mic Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 This weekend is the May full moon. Is there a certain time of day to focus my efforts on bedding bluegills?
Greasy B Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 On bright day even agressive fish will often roll on a top water bug without taking it. Or they rush toward your fly, stop just before it and stare. During the last hour of daylight these same fish will take the bug without hesitation. I guess you could fish a fly deep during the day but what fun is that. His father touches the Claw in spite of Kevin's warnings and breaks two legs just as a thunderstorm tears the house apart. Kevin runs away with the Claw. He becomes captain of the Greasy Bastard, a small ship carrying rubber goods between England and Burma. Michael Palin, Terry Jones, 1974
exiledguide Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 mic just hit the beds this weekend until you wear yourself out and then go back the next day ........etc. Over where you live I'd be looking for beds that have trees shading them. Let us know how you do, I still miss fishing for bluegill up in your neck of the woods
jdmidwest Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 I hit some beds last weekend and the males were just starting to come in. Went thru early and did not pick many up in the morning. Went back after wearing the crappie out at noon time and they were hitting crickets. I always seem to do better with the gills on beds on calm sunny days in bright sun. They seem to like sun better than clouds or low light like evenings and mornings. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
