Yep. You'd think Uncle Buck's 77 year reign LMB world record would have had more impact in that world, yet many are dedicated bank beaters that would be lost if they didn't have some kind of visible "structure" to throw at. He wrote books, gave seminars, and gave a lifetime E effort to teach bass anglers the art of structure fishing.

Mr B gets it, and the ones that listen are beginning to get it.

I really wish the bank beaters were right though. All those pesky bass really annoy me when I'm walleye fishing 100 yds from shore!

Here's an example of one of those PITA critters that mistakenly tasted my walleye crawler on a 35ft channel break;

I refuse to troll for black bass, not that there's anything wrong with it, but not my idea of fun, at least when it comes to bass fishing.

Quill they are by-catch to me and annoying. I had to chuckle yesterday I know J-doc likes to bass fish but he even commented how they were getting in the way of the crappie and walleye we were catching. Its funny to see people who are dedicated bass guys ( and ive taken many ) all the sudden dislike Bass when they are catching many fish and great table fair fish. This isn't about trolling but does show with a different method that there are fish in Beaver of very nice size but the " approved " method for catching them might not be the best way to catch them.

I fish for the dinner table and trolling is exactly my idea of fun. I troll a lot more than I cast, though I use trolling to locate concentrations of fish to cast to.

Of course I'm not fishing for, nor do I keep, black bass - but I catch a lot of them. There are lots and lots of black bass 'way out away from the banks where they don't get fished for so much. Last Wednesday near Mill Creek I caught a 21 1/4" largemouth with a wore-down tail on a light spinning rod and a Roostertail - fun! BTW, can anyone here estimate what that fish would weigh? She went back in the lake unharmed.

I figured out a long time ago that all my hobbies are "acquisitive" - I've got to figure I'm bringing something home, even if fish filets cost me a lot more than they would if I'd bought them at a market. Back when I used to play golf, what I liked best was finding lost golf balls and coming home with more than I went with. Different strokes, different folks.

One thing I get a kick out of when trolling is that you don't know what you'll catch. Walleyes, crappie, white bass, big bluegills and green sunfish, goggleyes, once in awhile a catfish, maybe a gar or a big foul-hooked shad - there are lots of surprises. Trolling covers lots of water and can locate where to fish, for me - and yeah, I constantly find that there are lots of bass where hardly anyone fishes for bass.

Yep, right after the scolding for eating all the walleye & striper food. :-)

Got to say that's the funniest thing I've read here in a very long time. :XD:

On a typical day I can catch a 5 fish limited that will go 15 to 19 pounds on a good day it can be a 20+ pound 5 fish limit, the difference is where and what I am targeting!

Trolling isn't the only way to target the deeper offshore fish. Study the maps and get really friendly with your sonar. It takes a lot of confidence to camp on a spot in the middle and throw a C rig or jig as far as you can in open water and take 4-5 minutes (or longer) to get it back to the boat, but it works.

Just because your reel has a crank handle doesn't mean you should spend the day turning it. :have-a-nice-day:

Maybe stripers would eat some of those kentucky bass that the bass fishermen wanted reduced? :lol:

So now that we know TR won't be polluted by stripers, is there any truth to the rumor about BS? I thought I had seen a 20" length limit on BS and if so that would be new and make one think they were anticipating some smaller fish. I've tried the MDC site, but as always it takes for ever to negotiate it. I wish they would find the designer of their site a job they can excel at.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
