Now the rod builder in me is curious...sounds a bit like a heavier version of a popping blank. Some of those are faster than you would think.

I built one and have another under construction of a 7"6" MHX salt water blank that would fit the described properties very well. Oddly it was not an expensive blank.

Built 4 of the Jann's JMX blanks this winter, which as far as I can tell are the same as the MHX. Pretty nice blank for the $. Am using the SJ9000, which is either a 7'6" spin jig or hot shot blank depending on who you ask, for warts/topwater as well as the Ned. Have 4 more to go.

Some of the popping blanks are noodles, but seems like increasingly they have more back bone. Might not be the right stick, but sure sounds about right. A blank with a little higher modulus would probably be closer.

Dave when your down with the family on vacation, I'll get you one and maybe you can figure it out for me. We'll see what you think of it. Maybe you can find something that is very similar to this to build.

If you are around Beck's stop and say howdy. We'll be in the same room, starting evening of 6/2. Might even send you home with something (maybe an 8yo).
