rps Posted June 6, 2013 Author Posted June 6, 2013 Now that is a compliment! And a curse. Or as the French say, "Touche."
powerdive Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 All lures work. Just not for everybody, or at all times. Sometimes we over-think it. I remember a trip up north, years ago. Fishing was tough, for all species. Everybody was struggling. Yet there in the local paper was the answer: A young angler hauled in a 45-lb. muskie on a nightcrawler at 12:30 a.m. while bottom fishing for bullheads. Then there was the wealthy businessman dabbling off his pier while reading the WSJ, soaking tiny minnows under a beach ball bobber for rock bass and perch. Funny, he caught the new lake record walleye. Sometimes the fish won't do what we think they should.
bfishn Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 All lures work. Just not for everybody, or at all times. Sometimes we over-think it... Yep. fish are way dumber than we give them credit for. I can't dance like I used to.
powerdive Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Yep. fish are way dumber than we give them credit for. Friend o' mine back in WI caught a 6-lb. largemouth (the equivalent of a 9 or 10 pounder down here) on a bobber and half a hotdog...
powerdive Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 I've heard of folks catching walleyes on hotdogs too. So.... Tipping your spoon with a piece of your lunch might not be a bad idea on a tough day!
Pepe Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 That Buckeye is a very close copy of the wake bait made by Amistad Tackle. The original had a thinner profile towards the end. I have compared them side by side and on the water. The original out-fishes the fin some days but I am not impressed with the Buckeye version. I guess we throw what we have confidence in and leave the rest of them in the box

It rides nice and always swims properly, it just has a hard tome on Table Rock. I'm just completely baffled by it. For me right now it is like a backup QB it is only going to get in the game if the starter is injured. Thanks http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Sore Thumbs Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 I am still a fan of the Buckeye Wake Bait. I have been catching the fire out of em on Beaver with it. Just gotta swim it real slow and take your time. I pop it, dead stick it and swim it. Any that don't take it or swipe at it I can catch following up with a Fluke. Need to try a Red Fin again on the same day I am using a Buckeye to get a fair comparison.
magicwormman Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 I'm with Babbler on this one!!!! I have several of both the fin and Buckeye wake baits. I love to experiment with several differ baits (just as sick as RPS) and have used both lures against each other. The fin wins every time for me, except in dirty water.
