Mill Creek is easily your best bet. And I would get an annual pass as soon as possible. As Fins said, it's well worth it and runs 12 months from date of purchase, not by calendar year.

If you are 62 yrs or older and with a Golden Age Passport the yearly cost is 1/2 price of $15.00. The campsite fees are also 1/2 price as cost of national parks are also 1/2 price. There is a small fee for the Golden Age Passport but it is a onetime cost of $10.00 for a lifetime. It is a real bargain for us seniors......See Below

Senior Pass

  • $10 Lifetime pass
  • For U.S. citizens or permanent residents age 62 or over.
  • May be obtained in person at a federal recreation site or through the mail using this application form. The cost of obtaining a Senior Pass through the mail is twenty dollars ($20). Ten ($10) for the Senior Pass and ten ($10) for processing the application. Applicants must provide documentation of age and residency or citizenship.
  • May provide a 50 percent discount on some amenity fees charged for facilities and services such as camping, swimming, boat launch, and specialized interpretive services.
  • Generally does NOT cover or reduce special recreation permit fees or fees charged by concessioners.

Awesome, I will launch at Mill Creek and buy the annual pass ASAP.

Two more questions ...

1) Guessing it is a drop box for the $5 fee (I plan on getting there around 5:30 am). Where do I go to buy the annual pass?

2) Are there plenty of signs for me to follow once I get close? I know to take 76 west to 13 south. Go 12 miles then take Highway RB west. After that, I am hoping to just follow the signs.

Thanks again guys.

You should be able to buy the pass at the same place as the drop box, but the attendant will not be on duty at 0530, they keep office hours. Sorry, can't help you with the signage, never launched at Mill Creek.

Once you turn on RB, you dont need signs. The road runs right into the campground. Just keep going. Take it slow, you go down some big hills with a hard corner at the bottom. I would say you will have to drop a 5 in the box early, and by the pass on the way home. Doubt if they will use the 5 towards your yearly pass but maybe you can talk them into it.
