I bought the 597 HD DI about 4 months ago, and I like it. The screen is fairly small, so you have to be fairly close to see it good. I am still learning some of the functions, but I can see fish and structure very clearly. While working a drop shot I can see my lure at the exact depth, and fish moving to the lure. I haven't used the DI that much but you can see fish, and bottom detail with great clarity. The map it comes with sucks, so you will need to buy a chip from lake master or navionics, if you want good detail and contours. For the money I would buy it again.

Glad I could help. Just get on the lake and play with the features. Like some other posts have said, use your electronics at all times, and become proficent with using them. You will catch more fish, which means more quality time on the lake. Good Luck.
