Something I've never understood is why people make the boat launch such a frantic/chaotic environment. You are going out to or coming back from enjoying your choice of watersport on the lake. You should be at an optimum relaxed state at that point. If you've spent several hours on the lake fishing, skiiing, or whatever, then why are you in such a frenzy to get loaded up and out of dodge? I've had several people cut me off or blatantly get in my way to get loaded up, yet the majority of the time I'd be more than happy to let them go first so they are well on down the road before I leave. I certainly don't promote dilly-dallying around, but no need to add stress to cap off what was hopefully a great day on the water.

The ones I get aggravated at is when they get on the ramp and they have to get their rig ready to launch, some seem to take forever to remove tie downs get life jackets out and decide who is going to get in the boat at launching. When I pull on the ramp I am ready to launch and get out of the way for the next one. It is a very simple procedure load and unload if you just practice a little of course I have a few years experience doing that and every boat and trailer has it's sweet depth in the water for the trailer to load and unload. When you have these tournaments that have large numbers of boats the loading and unloading usually goes very smooth considering everything going on.

If you want a good laugh just sit and watch people on a boat ramp, I've seen a little bit of everything happen during loading and unloading boats from trailers.

my favorite was several years ago at mark twain. guy in front of us backed his huge (looked like 25 ft long) glittery bass boat. did a great job unloading, tied off, parked the truck. came down to find his boat full of water. forgot the plug. buddy and i were laughing along with him when we noticed i had done the same thing.

my boat was filling up. still funny to this day.

Saw a guy launching an old 14' or 16' aluminum johnboat with maybe a 10 HP Johnson. He forgot to put plug in and it started filling fast. He jumped in the boat and put the plug back.

This was the old rubber stopper-type on a chain that was on the inside of the back well.

He yelled out, "Now how am I gonna get all this water outta here?"

I yelled back, "Run the boat with the plug out and most of the water will drain out"

Well, he started the motor, put it in gear, pulled the plug and started running, when he realized that he left his truck and trailer on the ramp.

He quickly pulled up to the loading dock, jumped out and pulled his truck up to parking lot.

We launched our boat and were ready to head out when we looked back and saw his tackle box and gas tank floating next to the loading dock.

He forgot AGAIN!

It can be bad to use a firearm outside of a home invasion or high jack attempt on your car. Everything else is subject to many legal determinations and suits. You just need to watch what is going on in Fla with the Zimmerman case. I would not hesitate to use my 38 special in in a home invasion knowing that the defense loads in it are real killer things. But I have another thing I carry all the time. I have a 110 gram canister of law enforcement pepper spray its called Sabre Red. It has a effective range of 12 ft and it will make you think somebody pored gas on you and lit it off. They are made here in Fenton Mo by a outfit called Security Equipment Corp. The only problem is they only have a life span of about 4 yrs. but I think it is longer.i have one that expired two years ago and I tested it to see if it still worked. I sprayed a tiny bit on a cotton swab and touched it to my cheek. I can verify it really burned.

Geez, when I tuned into this I expected to see a thread about jerk baits and would see some tips from Bill B about it. Just goes to show you what we are dealing with in the US today.

Old Plug--you don't own a shock collar for your dog, do ya? Sorry, couldn't pass that one up. Just kidding.

My favorite of all times was a very attractive young lady ( DO NOT LET KIDS READ FURTHER ) at the dock with her husband / boy friend. He was yelling at her and telling her how to load a the boat. After awhile She had had enough and Flashed her rather substantial Tits and said

" If you want to play with these you will shut the _ _ _ _ up and do what I tell you or you can ( she bends over and moons him ) saying kiss my _ _ _ Now pull the _ _ _ _ _ _ _ trailer up so the boat centers itself and I can just ride up"

She had major applause from all the other people around and then took a bow... Come to find out a few weeks later her daddy was a guide and she grew up on the water the guy was her boyfriend.
