Wayne SW/MO Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 That is some dude we saw on the river....I was impressed with it's size and measured it for him.....19 + and thick.....I gave him trouble and went on my way, he laughed in my face and went on his way......It sucks but, the dude was legal as hell as there is only a 12 inch length limit on this stream....might be why the MDC is impailing fish there with rewards???? I think most on here who know you from the forum know it wasn't something you wanted to see. give him a break chief. Nice to get together, but man you could gives an idea of the watershed without giving the location of the retreat. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Chief Grey Bear Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 I am not beating on Scott in the least Wayne. He was definitely nicer to the guy then I would have been. I just won't acknowledge them most times. Saw one of these inbreds down on Big Sugar a couple of weeks ago. He strung up three fat, juicy, brownies one of them about 17 or maybe even 18. He was just as proud as he could be. He layed them out at the take out for all to see and kept scanning the crowd for gawkers so he could brag. As I was doing my work to put stuff away, he knew I saw the fish but never said a word. Corndawg wouldn't speak to him either. He finally asked me what time it was for whatever reason. I think he thought if he broke the ice, I would listen to him brag to me. I just quickly told him the time and went on about my business. He was perfectly legal, but I have no time for him. So yes, as I have been told before, I am a Smallmouth Snob. And I am not ashamed. RSBreth Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 I'm with Chief on this one - legal or not it doesn't make it right. Big Smallies are rare enough with all of the jackholes like that taking them home to freezer burn. Take a (quick) picture and let it go.
Members The Troutdoorsman Posted July 6, 2013 Members Posted July 6, 2013 Smallie, Always enjoy your posts. I'm appreciating the kinder, gentler tone as well. It lets the focus be more on what you are saying rather than how you are saying it. Even with the edge taken off your passion for protecting and preserving our rivers comes through and is contagious. Can't wait to read the next write up.
DADAKOTA Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 I could have guessed from your posts that you were from St. Louis. The pics confirmed it. I am sure that big one you caught really benefitted from laying on the gravel. But then again I guess you couldn't gloat about the fish you caught without a picture. Black River Lodge is a popular place with the St. Louis crowd and Hoosier is their deragatory term for anyone the feel is beneath them or does something they do not agree with (although completely legal). If a feller wants to eat his catch so be it. Get over yourself. On the positive side ya'll did catch some nice fish.
Guest Brian B. Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Dadakota- attempting to reveal the spot that the OP clearly wanted to keep obscure is a typical douche-bag move. Good work. Read his VERY FIRST LINE OF THE FIRST POST. Sportmen don't do that to one another- unless they are envious ___nts. Edit your post- that is piss poor, and by gosh you know it is. The fish in the photo is fine- I'm sure an avid smallie fisherman didn't plop the darn fish down flopping around fresh off the hook- come onm man, how. Childish. And as a life long St.Louis Metro resident, as to the Hoosier terminology. I have been the recipient of "hoosier", "fahhhhkkking hoosier", "you drunk hoosier", "honey let's get the kids outta here- look at that hoosier".... I represent the "hoosier" clan... The douche in that photo is the "white trash- hoosier" variety. I can't make out the lower portion of the photo, I'm assuming "Ricky Bobby" was more than likely rocking the cut-offs with the white pant. Pockets poking out from the cut-off part, likely beer cans all over the bank, empty Pall Mall cig packs. I hope you gave that Hoosier -HOLY HELL- and shamed his dumb arse for being genetically deficient enough not only to stringer that beautiful beast, but to have such a lack of shame as to proudly pose for a photo... Yes OP, that indeed is a freaking hoosier. (By gosh I would know- where's my by gosh 'cold beer'.. ) Sorry, that wound me all up by gosh. WRONG.. (A guy shares a fishing trip. With friends and family and you are going to try to twist it and expose his. Spot- edit your post- you embarass yourself-and I'm not even drankin' yet-)
Guest Brian B. Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 What time of year did Rick Bobby have that fish stringered? Sure looks like she is full of eggs, and the tail to boot, what a shame. I know, he may be legal, but by gosh have some common "horse" sense.

Kind of like what happened here. Although at some point, much later, he did delete it.
