Champ188 Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Also, since all night tournaments are team derbies and with a four-fish limit, neither angler is likely to reach the point of "limiting out" individually and going into catch-and-release-only mode.
merc1997 Bo Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 actually, many times it is quite easy to catch way too many keepers. bo
Champ188 Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Glad it's not that darned easy for me most of the time. I'd probably get bored if I caught them at will like some folks.
Alex Heitman Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 My take on the rules is that since you cannot cull you are allowed to have 6 fish in your boat. Lets say you put five in the box. The rule states you cannot cull but are allowed to keep six. So you keep fishing and catch a bigger fish that would cull. Well you just simply keep it and use it to cull another smaller fish but you do not throw the smaller fish back. You bring it to the weigh in site and do not count it towards your limit but it is put in the release boat. This is probably not right but just my take on the rule
Quillback Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 It seems it would be a very difficult, if not impossible, rule to enforce on night tournaments. Very hard also during the day, LE would have to visually see someone pulling a fish out of the livewell and releasing it. I'd call it an honor system rule.
merc1997 Bo Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 so, you have 6 3lbers in the boat, and catch 6 more that all weigh 5 lbs., it is hard to enforce the no cull rule. that is one reason that i fish very few tournaments anymore. also, back in the day, i was not aware of the no cull, and i just like everyone else, culled bass all night. i passed a lot of poly graph tests because i did not know that i was in actuality cheating. since i have become aware of the exact law of culling here in missouri, i have to answer yes to the question "have you ever cheated in a tournament" on a polygraph test. on the local money runs, i am probably right in saying that no one pays attention to the rule. but, it you are fishing a tournament where a polygraph is being given, if you know the rule, you had better go by it, or be very good at cheating the polygraph. bo My take on the rules is that since you cannot cull you are allowed to have 6 fish in your boat. Champ188 Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 If you have to worry about your fellow competitors ignoring this rule, then you have much bigger problems. A cheater is a cheater. He doesn't discriminate... not for long, anyway ... when it comes to breaking rules. He'll break every one of them if he believes he can get by with it.
