mic Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 Hey all, I like all music; Jazz, rap, pop, rock, country, some classical. Lately I've been getting into Bluegrass. I seem to like the upbeat, banjo type more then the waltzes. If you are fan also, would you make a couple of recomendations.
bfishn Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 The Kentucky Colonels, Old and In the Way Nobody smokes a fiddle like Vassar. I can't dance like I used to.

Quillback Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 Steve Martin/Edie Brickell just came out with a CD, I've only heard one song, but I liked it. Steve is the banjo player.

Mitch f Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 I always liked the Dillard's from Salem Missouri. They actually covered a bunch of Beatles songs Bluegrass style, which were quite good! "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor

Sorry sheriff, the boys is all keyed up. I kinda favor mandolin and dobro stuff, FWIW. Alison Krauss, Lonesome River Band, Del McCoury, Jerry Douglas, Ricky Skaggs, Infamous Stringdusters. Steve Martin does some extraordinary stuff -- not sure I'd call what I've heard bluegrass though. I'm not generally a big banjo fan, but a song caught my ear on the radio one day. Turned out it was Steve doing 'The Great Remember'. Check that out on iTunes and see what you think. Ended up getting that album and his next. Haven't heard much of the new one with Edie Brickell.
