Interesting. I think its clear now they will be going for a self defense Castle Doctrine defense. Just based off interviews I cannot agree with it being self defense. Crocker went down to the creek with weapon in hand. The floaters were not attempting breaking any laws ( possibly trespassing) but that's still not proven). It appears Crocker was the aggressor and instigator of the conflict. Again that's just based off interviews so far.

I am all for gun rights and right to defend self and property but this sure does not look like a case for defense of self or property. Looks like a land owner who has had enough of people (in his eyes at least trespassing ) and trashing his property and he took to vigilante justice.

I really hope this case if nothing else forces the state to act to clearly define the property of the rivers and streams.

I think they will have a hard time convincing a jury that a gravel bar is a castle, or that he or his property was in danger, and if he contends that the sheer number of people on the bar made him scared for his safety, then he should have stayed away and used 911. I can't see him getting away with anything unless the prosecutor thinks he should.

As far as the right to arm, it's easy to give personal reasons for and against from theoretical view, but one can't speak for everyone. The fact I may not think I need protection may not account for some young mother alone in a house in in KC or STL. The Castle Law says you can defend your home without probable cause. It assumes a stranger coming in is at his own peril, but it doesn't say you have to do anything, just that you can.

Interesting link, thanks. The attorney has started trying the case in the court of public opinion. That tells me he doesn't think he has a good case in the real court.

Rocks as large as softballs? The Crawford County jail denying him medical treatment? This for the alleged "good guy" known in the community? Keep talkin, Mr. Attorney.

When the trial starts, they'll have the "good guy" dressed in a suit with a nice haircut. He'll look like a respectable local businessman. The crazy looking dude in the mug shot will be nowhere to be found.

I almost did, but the subject has just been beat to death. It doesn't sound like I would agree with you, or you with me. So back to the topic at hand.
