I almost did not know how to type the report on that incident but this is just one instance of the problems that have been caused by drunk floaters. During the summer we usually have 2 deputies doing nothing but patrolling camp grounds. I might also add that the campgrounds pay the deputies over time hours for this serevice during the summer. but most of the time 2 is not. I have seen fights happen at these camp grounds were over 100 people were involved. and there was only 7 cops in the whole county to deal with this problem. This number also includes the city officer from the county as well

I do not know what that they did with the money but I do know after that incident the farmer will not let anyone cross his land to access the river almost had to arrest him once because he would not allow a ambulance access across his property to the river to deal with a woman who had a severe case of alcohol posining

Elk river. It seams to cycle on the problems some years are worse than others.. I don't know of any major incidents other than the normal assaults and drunken B.S. but floods might have had something to do with that.

Things are bad when outfitters have to pay cops to patrol, that's what I have a wife for!

Aw the Elk. Right in my back yard. I avoid the upper end like the plague during the summer.

Sorry hit the post button to soon but my opinion of the original subject is it could go ether way for the shooter. I would guess he will probably pea bargain to one of the man slaughter classes. if it goes to trial I would look for the defense to question the witnesses credibility and bring up that the shooter was trying to remove people whom he thought were trespassing on his property I also think the castell doctrine will come into play as well. Mainly the part that you do not have to retreat from a threat on your own property. the people became a threat when they picked up rocks. I can see a good defense attorney possibly winning a jury trial for the shooter but it will cast him big $ to do it
