huntest Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 The Lowrance phone in service desk has gone from "am I being punked" awful to very acceptable in the last year. Helpful, friendly, and act like they care.... They very much deserved the bad rep and apparently realized they needed to fix the problem!
Champ188 Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Good to know, huntest. I've always had high regard for their products (except for the leakage issues). Anyone who spends the loot these toys cost deserves top-notch customer service if they have problems with it.
Bill Babler Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Mike was the only one that I knew of that had the units leak. Beck, Pete, Lisek and I never had any problems what so ever. As far as target resolution, and complete HDS Sonar, still think the Bird is falling short, and quite away short of the HDS 7's and up. I can pretty much see line size to the knots on the swivel and tell if my bait is properly positioned on my drop shot, at any depth. I can completely see fish move to the bait and either except or reject it. As Fin mentioned I don't know if the bird has it or not, but Realtime Sonar or what we used to call a flasher is a function to me that is as important as any, and it works flawless on the HDS and HDS Elite units. Can't see a fish open its mouth with it, but pretty durn close. This feature is on the extreme right hand side of the screen and there is no lag time on its reading. Complete Realtime. Personally I have completely no use for the down scan function. Of course I've looked at the Sonar for 10's of thousands of hours. I will say this. On the new units one had better be careful with Lowrance using a chip that is not Lowrance. I'm still getting that worked out. Lowrance has a warning on their site about using non-lowrance chips. Good Luck http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Feathers and Fins Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 I snapped this one specifically for this thread. The difference between Sonar and Downscan is unmistakable. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
