I woke up in 3" of water in my tent from the Spring River back in high school.

We set up after dark and nobody checked the radar, (no Iphone back then)

Looking back, I was very lucky.

You don't have a chance when that tidal wave comes around the bend.

Well went through many floods along the Missouri River even '93 & '94 but in truth I rather see this than what we was going through last year.

I doubt there are many on here that remember the '51 flood, but it was a big one and while I was young I still remember mental snapshots of it. As bad as this or any flood is, tornadoes are still more deadly.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

More down in the town of Hollister.. across from the Post Office is Turkey Creek. It is the one that flooded hard. Any low lying areas were really affected.

The Waste Water Treatment plant has R/R tracks that you have to cross to get to it.. the tracks were floating... in mid air... nothing underneath.

Hollister made the national news, NBC had Mike Siedel reporting from there last night. What a mess.

Flooding is real bad down this way as well. Elk and Big Sugar were raging as well.

There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!

My dad was at Dilllard on the headwaters of the Huzzah and always said the flood of 51 was a massive amount of water and damage. The other floods that I can remember are december of 82 93 all year but a big one november of 93 July 28 1998 and a highest ever mark on huzzah and meramec since i been around was march 18 2008 when it rained a study rain for 24 hours for a 10 inch total. When the rivers got out of their banks they stayed out longer than average and boy the holes were cleaned out and the gravel and sand was deposited in the farmers fields.. I just wish we could retain some of this for next summer .

So, fishwise, any thoughts?

(Selfish, I know)

My guess is they could care less.
