Palaniuk sealed the deal, and a ticket to the CLASSIC. Good for him. Here's a photo from today. Why the different markings? He was fishing the same general area in Lake Ontario. Male vs. Female, different genetics. Are smallie markings differences this extreme around here?

Congrats to Palaniuk, pretty impressive win. The last few smallies I've caught on TR had the coloration of the one on the right. More of a solid brown color than the spotted variety on the left. Not as big, however :oh-noes:

I was just looking at the total weights, Palaniuk averaged 22 lbs. per day, 88 lbs. for the tourney. Pretty impressive smallie fishery those Yankees have. Wish it was closer to here.

I would almost guarantee one of them has been riding in his live well for awhile and one is a fresh fish. They change colors when you put them in the live well.

Wouldn't it be awesome to be able to average a 4 1/4lb smallie around here?

You aren't kidding, I have not caught a 4.25 smallie around here. I know they exist in Table Rock, but I haven't gotten one yet.
