jeb Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 I've finally started my 12 step program to rid myself of hoarding jerk baits and to STOP buying anymore jerkbaits and just stick to my ole' faithful....the SPRO McStick 110. Will the megabass outfish it at times? Sure. Will a rogue outfish the megabass at times? Sure. It all evens out in the end IMO and I am just going to stick to my go to and save the $ for gas. For $11.49 or whatever the cost of the McSticks are I find them to be the most well made, true running out of the pack with nice gammy hooks and with a good color selection when compared to cost of other brands. I have a load of the MB 110's, probably 25 or more. I've caught some fish on them, but don't find them to be anything special. The hooks are frail, the bills and tails break off, and they don't catch as many fish for me as other baits like the McStick and the Lucky Strike STX (dead ringer for the MB110, only like $7 per, but catch more fish, for whatever reason). Rare I even tie on one of my 110's anymore as I prefer the others to them. I also have the magnum MB 110, and have yet to catch a fish on it on TR or Beaver. In my experience, MB baits are over rated and over priced. But I'm sure the mental part of the game/confidence is a big factor in this area, too. I just don't have any confidence in them. Quillback Posted August 19, 2013 Author Posted August 19, 2013 I sent off an off color MB 110 I didn't like and an RC STX off to Tim Hughes to have repainted in Norman Flake (Tim does an awesome Norman Flake BTW). When I got them back it was extremely difficult to tell them apart, the guys who make the STX either stole some molds from Megabass, or they did an exact copy.
jeb Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Whichever one breaks first is the MB. John B 08 Skeeter SL210, 225F Yamaha
