E Green Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Such a cool and interesting snake. Water Moc's are simply fascinating IMO. We each went our seperate ways shortly after our photo op...haha

E Green Posted August 16, 2013 Author Posted August 16, 2013 yep. right on the lower portion of the body. Normally when I wade fish this stream, I wear patagonia waders and wading boots which are both somewhat thick for this very reason. This time though, I had swimming trunks and water socks/shoes and nothing else. figures...haha nothing happened though. it didn't even show the defensive/warning mouth opening posture until a minute or so passed and I had the camera out. It was very very docile....thank goodness...

Members AdMaven Posted August 16, 2013 Members Posted August 16, 2013 Whoa! I would have jumped into the next county!! Over the years I've had lots of rattlesnakes here on the ranch but I admit when we move next summer to the lake house I'm a little anxious to learn the difference between the venomous and non-venomous ones. Here it is easy for me.
Greasy B Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 Dang man I've done the exact same thing. Almost peed myself. Yep me too, good thing I was fairly intoxicated at the time or I would had to change my drawers. His father touches the Claw in spite of Kevin's warnings and breaks two legs just as a thunderstorm tears the house apart. Kevin runs away with the Claw. He becomes captain of the Greasy Bastard, a small ship carrying rubber goods between England and Burma. Michael Palin, Terry Jones, 1974
fishinwrench Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 I'm very comfortable with snakes, poisonous or non, but I've had two 'too close for comfort' encounters with cottonmouth's. Both had me doing the cotton-eyed Joe while screeching like a girl. A fairly small CM was taking a nap under the bow of a jon boat and when I went to shove off the bank he gave me a 1/2 sec. warning then took a swat at my leg. The other time I was standing in the middle of a fast riffle as a rather large one started to cross just upstream of me, I hollered at my buddy to "check it out" and when I hollered the CM stopped swimming and the fast current swept him within a foot of me.
West Fork Jason Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 just discovered I now have a bee allergy. Does the epipen help with snake bites if there is a reaction??? http://www.WestForkJason.com
