Mitch f Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Took my daughter to the doctors office the other day and read a poster on the wall. The poster was entitled "How to reduce your risk of cancer" or something close to that. One of the first things it said was reduce your amount of red meat intake. My wife and I started discussing this over the phone as soon as I walked out of the doctor's office and decided we would go plant based for one month and see how it goes. Wow, it's tough but after 2 weeks I have already lost 8 pounds and don't have that heavy feeling anymore. Am I going to stick with it forever? don't know but watched a show called "Forks over Knives" and really hit home. I realize there is much propaganda in that movie but some of the facts are too heavy to ignore. "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor

fishinwrench Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 You'd starve if you went camping with ME Then again I suppose you could just graze behind the tents.
Mitch f Posted August 24, 2013 Author Posted August 24, 2013 Hey, it's only for a month. All kidding aside I might just eat meat on the weekends from now on, who knows. I might limit myself to a huge dripping ribeye once a month. Most nutritionists agree we, as a whole need to eat less meat and more veggies. "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
fishinwrench Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 You could just boycott the meat from the grocery store.
Wayne SW/MO Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 My son and family went on a diet I suppose you could call a 5 day vegetarian diet. They lost weight also, even though they weren't overweight, just lost some overhang. They still eat some meat, probably only twice a week or so and then they don't pig out on it. It has become more of a treat I suppose. I think the key to his success was getting a good vegetarian cook book. I've "cut back" since seeing his results. I've dropped the necessity of having meat at breakfast, if you don't consider eggs meat. And I've cut back on portions on things I can't cut it out of. It's amazing how much favor you can add to a pot of pinto's by adding an ounce of smoked country rib. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Greasy B Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 You could just boycott the meat from the grocery store. Now thats a good idea. Justin Spencer Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Maybe limit meat intake for the week to the amount you can fit in your purse.
