Mitch f Posted August 24, 2013 Author Posted August 24, 2013 Maybe limit meat intake for the week to the amount you can fit in your purse. Ouch "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
Feathers and Fins Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Mitch since the heart attack I completely changed my diet. Meat is only from a butcher or game I have shot, fish intake way up and more veggies and fruits. Loose the coke and sweet tea. 45 lbs down by simply knocking off the store bought crap and I feel like I am 20 again. It is all about sensible and "Safer" meat. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
fishinwrench Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Loose the coke and sweet tea. Let's not go all overboard here!

Wayne SW/MO Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Tea is good for you. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Mitch f Posted August 25, 2013 Author Posted August 25, 2013 Are you strictly on a fruit and veggies diet? Any good recipes to share? No I don't have any recipes but I have been going to these Mongolian BBQ's, you do all veggies. "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
Wayne SW/MO Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 I think that some of us raised in a different era in rural Missouri probably have a different perspective. Veggies were a lot cheaper that meat when I was growing up and I ate what was put in front of me and it was heavy on fresh vegetables. In the summer we had fried eggplant fairly often and that served as the meat dish. We also never had beans with meat and they were the meal. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
bfishn Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Mom had 2 acres of garden at the house, and dad planted sweet corn in the field too. If I could get veggies like those again, I could ignore me a little meat. I can't dance like I used to.
Jack Jones Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 It's not easy. When my wife was away at school and work I was more successful at forcing fish and veg on the kids. These days red meat is a once a month thing (not including McDonalds a few times a month). Counting calories is big. I'd say the more fish, veg diet has helped. I dropped 25 lbs. No soda anymore. Cereal in the a.m. With almond milk (allergy reasons) and no sausage. It's all a process to change the diet but once you feel it, it's hard to go back. These days I can't see myself eating. 8 oz sirloin like I used to. "Thanks to Mother Mercy, Thanks to Brother Wine, Another night is over and we're walking down the line" - David Mallett
fishinwrench Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Boy I dunno. A day without meat of any kind.... I think I'd go into a seizure or something.
