Members Jozark Posted September 6, 2013 Members Posted September 6, 2013 Bill, Why do you think the days of catching big spots on TBR Lake are over??
Members Jozark Posted September 6, 2013 Members Posted September 6, 2013 I love spotted bass and think they are a blast to catch, as well as being one of the prettiest black bass species. What would a trophy or a wall hanger be considered on Table Rock?

What would a trophy or a wall hanger be considered on Table Rock? I'd say a spot over 6lbs is a wall hanger IMO. I would get a bunch of really good pictures from all angles and exact girth, length and weight measurements and get a replica made and release her. I just flat out don't want to kill any fish much less and true beast pig of a fish. That goes for any species for me.
Bill Babler Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 I have only ever seen one over 5 in my life. Lots of 3.5 to 4.5 however. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Bill Babler Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 Bill, Why do you think the days of catching big spots on TBR Lake are over?? We still catch big spots, but not the numbers we once did. Simply as stated there is tremendous pressure on this fishery, as with most every other in the Midwest. AS the previous lake biologist told me, the reason there is a bass limit on Table Rock is not to prevent over population, but to make sure there is a population. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Sprint21fter Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 I have had the pleasure to see to Spotted bass just over 6lbs caught by my father in the early 90's. He caught one up West Fisher Creek in October, and in January the same year he caught one on the road bed just past Viola ramp in 45ft vertical jigging a jig.
abkeenan Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 Two biggest that I have seen (only photo's) that come to mind recently are one that was caught by Dan Moorehead in the FLW I believe about 2 or 3 years ago or so in March I believe it was. It was 6lb 14oz. The other was caught by a local up by Big M Marina (I might be mistaken) and it was like 7 lbs 6oz or something crazy. There is a pic of it somewhere from a friend of the guy that caught it in previous posts dating back a year or more. Will have to dig around and find it. Here is the pic of Dan Moorehead with his TOAD spot: Found the other pic of this fish that was caught in 2011 and weighed at Big M Marina @ 7.26lbs.
