Quillback Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 Strange part is I really didnt feel any pain. getting it removed,,,,,,,not painful, more a little discomfort. Got new hooks on the lure and heading back out in a couple of hours. Alright! Get back out there and make those fish pay.

There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!
Buzz Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 Ouch. I can honestly say that has never happened to me, yet. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
Greasy B Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 Yet. My wearover sunglasses took two direct hits this year. His father touches the Claw in spite of Kevin's warnings and breaks two legs just as a thunderstorm tears the house apart. Kevin runs away with the Claw. He becomes captain of the Greasy Bastard, a small ship carrying rubber goods between England and Burma. Michael Palin, Terry Jones, 1974

I aint taking any chances in the dark anymore either. hope everyone is getting out there weather has been great. The fishing this morning was awesome. landed 7 from 5:30 am till am. Just released an 18 incher before the accident. I'll be out again Sunday am, ready to dodge those treble hooks
E Green Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 ouch....guess i will keep the shades on as much as possible when fishing regardless of sun etc.....thanks for the tip
John Andrews Posted September 22, 2013 Author Posted September 22, 2013 If one person takes the hint and it prevents just ONE person from getting "eye hooked" it's worth the ribbing I might get from people. I also bought an auto inflating life vest. I never wore a life vest, I can swim better than most people I know. I am now taking this "it will never happen to me" thing to heart.
Old plug Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 I have been hooked up 3 time and all three times it was from someone else. Worst one was when a bass tournament partner yanked a heavy 3/4 oz single in off a tree branch and this big thick nickel finish hook stuck into the inside of my wrist. It was hard to push through. Then after that we never like to got the end clipped off. All you could do was dent the darn hook. We did that several times then got another set of pliers on there an was able to break the hook. Very little pain to speak of. But it bleed a little through the hanky I wrapped it up in the rest if the day.
Al Agnew Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 I'll say it once more...learn the rope trick. Any hook that you can get out by pushing it on through and clipping it off, you can much more easily get out with the rope trick, with a lot less pain and bleeding. I would have done the rope trick on the hook in the face in the original post.
John Andrews Posted September 24, 2013 Author Posted September 24, 2013 i tried that but didnt bring my dang reading glasses and up close I cant see worth a darn. I couldnt see to get the angle right and was doing more damage than good. I didnt have any options but the Dr. At least I have great insurance LOL. I used the "rope" trick several time on myself and other people. Oh well Dr's gotta eat too LMAO
