Justin, as a concessionaire, do they have the right to close your access?

You did sign a contract for a certain amount of time until it comes up for bid again.

I guess they do, I don't have much to fight with, they really don't need me, I need them. Believe me, it drives me nuts but thank goodness I'm not in the National Scenic Riverways where they shut the whole river down, should be unconstitutional to close public land.

According to Brian, the Eleven Point is open and it is a part of the ONSR.

It is actually a Wild an Scenic Riverway that is overseen by the forest service and not the National parks like the ONSR, long story, but good move for them not to be part of ONSR.

Your right, I forgot about that. But is it the State Forestry Service or Federal. The trails and accesses are Federal marked if I recall. And he states that Greer Campground is closing due to the Feds.

It is the feds but they have left their accesses open because they have a good supervisor for their district, they can leave the river open because it is not run by the national park service, but is under USDA. Our district supervisor does not like her only river access or the people who use it so she shuts it down whenever possible.

I have been through a government dung down on the other side of it. I do not believe they will be shutting down any thing that is public unless there is a direct liability to the government. You see some people who are upset about the whole thing would go in there and injure themselves on purpose then sue the government.

At the WWII Monument in DC today, the goverment first gated it off, and then a bunch of WW II vets including some Honor Flight folks decided to go past the gates, a few members of Congress started to help the vets, and pretty soon the guards from whatever Fed Agency is was stood back and made no attempt to interfere. I'll predict the feds would rapidly stand back on the stream accesses too.

I would hope most of us could see a large difference between access to a monument honoring fallen veterans and access to recreation areas. In a significant way, those guys have assured our freedom to enjoy ourselves.

Cutting off veteran access to promised and needed services is the most unforgivable part of this shutdown, IMO. Oh the SHAME!

Most of the river accesses here are state owned, which means they will not be affected. I already called and confirmed this. Why would you limit your fishing spots to a federal owned access area anyway? Aren't most boat ramps and river accesses where everybody lives owned by the state?

The big reservoirs in this part of the country are, for the most part, managed by the Corps of Engineers. To include boat ramps. There are launches managed by other entities, and people are using them, but they may not be close by to where you want to fish and they'll get crowded.
