Guest Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Y'all just made me spend more money on fishing! I bought the Yozuri Hybrid and Gamma Co-polymer (its been discontinued but found on ebay)
Members KC Bass Fanatic Posted October 29, 2013 Members Posted October 29, 2013 Throw 10-12lb fluoro on all my crank bait rods. Seaguar AbrazX and BPS white label have both been good to me for years and hold up good in the Ozark rocks.

Old plug Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 I have caught fish to 49 lbs on it was either 10 or 12 lb test mono i forget which it was on the reel. Only time i go larger is pitching docks and sometimes not then. Only reason for that is fishing in back of docks and if I am going into heavy cover. Will destroy any line very very fast and a heavier line give me slightly longer life margin.

There are plenty of harder things to figure out in fishing than which line to use for crankbaits. Get a quality 10-pound mono like P-Line or Trilene (XL, XT or Big Game - take your pick) and spool it up. Get you a Wart or Bandit 200 or 300 series and go fishing. Incidentally, I wouldn't go out there winding on a crankbait just yet. Water's awfully cold. Needs to get back up in the mid to upper 40s before that bite gets going again.
Old plug Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 champ I went down to Camdenton today. crossed the osage arm at sunrise beach on the sunrise beach bridge and as far as you could see both directions it was iced over. Also crossed the Niangua same story solid ice. I live on the gravois at the mouth of Mill Creek cove.from here up it is sold ice as well. after the next few days the whole lake should be covered with ice to thick for a dock owner like me to be comfortable with. the lake temp reports have been hovering around 33 degrees for several days.
Champ188 Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 I believe it, Old Plug. We've had a whale of a winter and I'm afraid it's far from over. LOZ is far from the deepest pond in the world, which probably contributes to the icing nature. Last time I was up there a few years back, it was iced up in all the creeks.

Well said Champ, especially the part about the crank bait with the current water temps. Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
