I always use a leader with braid...the 6lb that I use has very little abrasion resistance...Flouro leader for subsurface, mono for topwater..

All braid all the way! It's the only way to roll!

I made the switch this spring and started off using straight braid and it didn't seem to bother the whites but when i started fishing for smallmouth they did not like it i had them charge in really aggressive and turn away when they got up close now i use a 6 foot or so mono or floro leader you also get better action out of top water with a stiff leader.

I only use braid for 1 application......for a bigger spinnerbait to flip in log jams/ root wads, or in murky water. Other than that it's hybrid mono for everything else.

I use braid but prefer fireline on some ofy crappie fishingp applications related to sink rate. I only use either if them on one rod.

I use a leader on braid with exceptions I posted earlier. I don't use it for stealth however. My reason is that it saves the braid, which will last almost indefinitely and as a weak link. I can use a strong braid to gain some bulk for abrasion resistance and shock breakage resistance.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

In really clear water my buddies will out fish me if I run braid all the way to my Fluke. Add a leader in clear water. If the water is colored up I don't see the catch rate change if I run all braid.

Do bass seem to care, in your opinion, if you are using braid tied direct in clear water? Do you see your catch rate go down at all? I am wondering since using a rod with braid on it in relatively clear water this weekend and being amazed at the sensitivity.

Did you see any difference in catch rates this weekend? And there was a definite handicap for the guy in back.

I didn't see much, if any, difference. Have you thrown it in gin clear water yet? If so, how'd that go?
