Members Middleton369 Posted November 10, 2013 Members Posted November 10, 2013 Anyone been to delta lately or heard anything recent about water levels/duck numbers? Talked to a buddy in Stuttgart and in Jonesboro last week. Apparently the rice/bean/corn harvest is over with. Almost no water except for what is being pumped. Huge duck and geese numbers however for this time of year, I'd say due to the unusual cold fronts we've had in the last few weeks. Anyone else have any other info?
Feathers and Fins Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Lots of ducks all over, but getting info beyond that is and will be next to impossible on the internet to many Duck Dynasty internet scouters, and with that comes some of the most inconsiderate, rude intolerable people around. Had some experience with them yesterday and though I may give info out about fishing with what im seeing from this new crop of waterfowlers info will only be given to friends on details and to be 100% honest that is what im hearing from many veteran hunters. The benefit to this is the old-timers are opening up more to each other and more and more joint hunts happening to combat these punks who think they see a TV show or Youtube video and know how to duck hunt or think they know how. Not meaning to sound rude or anything but stating a fact. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Members Middleton369 Posted November 10, 2013 Author Members Posted November 10, 2013 I agree with you 100%. I've been watching the duck commander videos for over ten years now and it still amazes me that they grew to what they are today. While I know they are honest country folks to the core, when their show first came out on tv and got popular I cringed about what it would do to those of us that chased ducks before it became the "cool" thing to do. Honestly last year I had more issues with the duck dynasty hunters in NWA and the river valley as opposed to in the delta.
Feathers and Fins Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Last year is when I saw it getting bad as well. This year even worse. I swear ive never seen so many people talking about " their crew" or running around with stupid "crew names" on hoodies. It would be amusing if not for how the behave to around others. I don't have to much of a problem when im hunting big open water not many can or like to hunt it, but the shallow waterfowl management areas are a zoo. Last year was mild and it brought them out in force. had people set up within 50 yards of me one time and several other times within 100 yrds some not even putting deocys out but trying to pass shoot birds working my spread. I hope this cold runs them off and they see what real duck hunting is all about. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856

jdmidwest Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 Duck Dynasty quit being about ducks when they hit the big time TV. Nothing like the actual hunting videos. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
Feathers and Fins Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 Jd I haven't seen a legitimate hunting video for years. All of them now are more about Music and showing off body counts and the "crew" involved. I miss the old shows where they discussed the hunt the how too's of it and the history of the area. Those shows that discussed the morals and ethics the courtesy to others but most was the value of them in education. They were tailored to take us to places most would never get to go but still put the message of showing respect to people and nature. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
luckycraft Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 I just hope In a few years after the Fad of this DD wears off, I will be able to pick up some cheap decoys from others dropping out, But yes I would be quite upset if others pass shot off birds working my decoys, Not cool
Greasy B Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 I just hope In a few years after the Fad of this DD wears off, It will, those who follow the idiot pop culture have short attention spans. Feathers and Fins Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 I don't know Greasy. DD has made it worse or magnified it but I think the Youtube vids are worse and they have been going on a while now. I have to chuckle, I have never grown a beard (cant because of work ) and never used face paint, heck unless its real cold I don't even use a face mask. Movement is the killer in hunting more than anything Saturday we hunted behind a few thrown out pieces of brush and as Marty said looked like Turtles sitting on the mud lol. I know everything is designed to make the companies money but with that I have a fear that many of these ( as I call them ) " TV HUNTING FANS "are going to try a few bad weather hunts and get killed in bad weather. Most of us who have hunted long enough have had some close calls but had experience passed down to us on how to get out of them. These newbies do not seem to have that mentality or knowledge. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
