The best crappie catches I've ever had were during the week of Thanksgiving, regardless of whether it was mild and calm or rainy and cold. Just something about this time of the year that put the LO crappie on a good feed.

Nov 1962 Ft Sill . We were in the field, woke up with a coating of ice on shelter halfs and temp in the teens with a blue norther from the Artic circle and we had not been issued long underwear yet never in my life was I so happy to see itch wool long johns show up right after breakfast along with our liners for our field jackets.

:have-a-nice-day: Wrench, those were not the good old days but we had fun. Like the day I walked around a boulder trying to find a high spot for an OP and was staring at a mountain lion who turned out to be more scared than then I was..............

Nov. 1962 ? Dang ol'timer! I hadn't even soiled my first cloth diaper at that time.

I agree with Wrench, That was long time ago. I was born in Lawton in '69. Love that area around Ft. Sill.

I hear that Exiled. I was going to a tech school at Lowry AFB in Denver in '58 and the only jackets they had for us were field jackets without liners. They hadn't restocked enough liners after Korea to go around. With nothing but a little cotton on in 0-10 degrees it was COLD!

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

I spent my 5 years in that area. Don't care to do that ever again. Visit, yes. Move in again, never!
