Al Agnew Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Mizzou didn't play anywhere close to their best game. Some dropped passes, some poor play calling on offense, didn't capitalize on the interception and the fake punt, one bad throw by Franklin, defense gave up some big plays and couldn't defend the quick outs and screens as usual...and they still beat Ole Miss without too much trouble. An Ole Miss that should have beaten TAM and beat LSU. Maybe that means that Mizzou can actually play with the big boys of the SEC West. Still, that TD called back because the guy stepped out of bounds was huge. But Mizzou still had to stop them after that, and they did. Pretty vanilla offense with Franklin this week, seldom going downfield on the passes...at the same time they didn't make full use of the running game until that last drive to close it out. Mizzou was the better team and took care of business.
stlfisher Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 The most imoressive to me was running out the clock at the end of the game. Boring win in some ways, but this team is really good.
ozark trout fisher Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Yeah, boring win but that's good I think. I expected it to be considerably more exciting.
Quillback Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Good win for Mizzou, beating Ol' Miss in a tough away game. Texas A&M next. Oregon lost, Baylor beat - Mizzou moves up to #6 or #5?
Feathers and Fins Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Mizz should move up to #3 https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
moguy1973 Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 I think Mizzou needs to learn to schedule their games more like Alabama, South Carolina, Florida State, and Clemson. Yesterday they played Chattanoga, Coastal Carolina, Idaho, and Citadel respecitvely. All all were blow outs of course. From what I saw watching at the restaruant last night, Mizzou was never not in control of that game in the first half. Missed the second half though. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
Wayne SW/MO Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 I think Missouri played a reserved game because they could. A&M will look at this game and Pinkel knew it. As far as the matchup next week A&M has the problem. Mizzou can look at how they can be defeated while Mizzou doesn't really have anything but one quarter against SC. I doubt that will reveal much. I disagree about the weak teams played late. It can come back to bite a team that is in the big race because sometimes you need a big win to make a move, you won't get that against the FCS. Lets say Bama, FSU and OSU are very close are just a few points apart, OSU is going to get the boost simply because they play a FBS team. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

I agree big wins late are better than big wins early in the polls. Disagree that Drinkel was thinking about A&M when calling plays in this game. Mizzou was a TD reversal away from a possible SouthCarolina meltdown in the 4th quarter. ozark trout fisher Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Yeah, this was not a game they could take lightly. The final score looks like a near-blowout......but only a called back TD and a long drive to run out the clock really took the fight out of Ole Miss. They never let Mizzou deliver the knockout punch until there were a couple minutes left. The Rebels are a good team, and they were a few missed opportunities in the redzone from making this an OT game.
ozark trout fisher Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 So it's 5th in the standings. Once again we're at the point where there is a path to the title, but it requires more help than we're probably going to get. Ohio State or FSU must lose. If one of those things happens- just try to win out and see where that takes you. Of course, winning out will be tough. A&M will likely be very upset about this weekend and I think they'll play hard. I don't think an Aggie victory would be too surprising.
