Me too. They had to expect AU to run, they were averaging over 400 if I'm not mistaken and MU was only allowing around 200, so why change? The seemed to be stuck on the A&M mentality looking for the threat to be outside, and it wasn't.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

How they adjusted at halftime was amazing. They didn't.

Maybe that was their thinking: "Auburn thinks we'll adjust our defence to stop the run and they'll come out passing. We'll fool them by not changing anything and mess up their passing game."

Good thing Steckel coached well over the course of the season. Because in almost any other circumstance, giving up 500 rushing yards in a conference championship game is grounds to be immediately fired. Unbelievable.

They'll learn their bowl fate in a couple hours. Cotton (Big 12 opponent) or Capital/Outback (Big Ten opponent). I think the smart money is on the Cotton Bowl and Oklahoma State, but we'll see.

Sometimes, in sports, it just isn't your day, and it is a spectacular day for your opponent. Happens all the time. For example, in professional baseball, how many times has an otherwise "average" pitcher thrown a no hitter? Or a 1 or 2 hit shutout? Often enough. However, one cannot draw an accurate negative conclusion about the hitting abilities of the opposing team, because it would be incorrect. On that particular day, that particular pitcher, and his team, beat this particular opponent in a dominating way. Nothing could or would have prevented the outcome. Just sports. And life.

And that's it. That it happened on national TV in a big game just made it worse. Miissouri is an outstanding football team. They just met the wrong team at the wrong time.

Auburn did just beat the number one team in the nation the week before. But this reminded me of the bowl game against Navy where our defense had no adjustment at halftime. But Auburn and especially that running back are a class act.

It did remind me of the the Navy game a lot. Except, obviously, Auburn is much more talented.

I was under the impression that Missouri ran a different defense in the Auburn game? They then went back to the old for one series at the start of the second half. Did I get that wrong?
