moguy1973 Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 I want to do the Courtois next year. I've only ever done the Huzzah when I'm down that way. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
Gavin Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Its been a long time since I've fished the Current below Round Spring or the Black...Would like to fish do some fishing in SWMO as well.
hank franklin Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 The James. Fished it, never floated it. Kings River. Mulberry. Upper Buffalo. Rivers I've floated in more or less in the chronological order I've floated them: Bourbeuse, Meramec, Missouri, Buffalo, Big Piney, Current, Jack's Fork, Huzzah, Eleven Point, Big, Mineral Fork, Courtois, Saint Francis, Osage Fork, Niangua, North Fork, Black, Gasconade. Of these the only "major" stream I haven't floated is the James. If anyone wants to argue a "major" please do. Would Big Creek be considered a "major?" Nah, not quite. Little Niangua? Probably not. Etc... I haven't been on the Osage below Bagnell, does that count as a "major"? Maybe I should get on it.
Al Agnew Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Well, let's see...here are the Ozark streams I've never done, and I want to do every one of them... The far upper Bourbeuse. It's the closest to home stream I've not done. The Niangua in the final stretch above Tunnel Dam (I've floated it down to Blue Spring). One stretch of the upper Niangua, don't remember the exact stretch. Little Niangua. Upper Pomme deTerre. Some stretches of Shoal Creek--I've floated it but not all of it. Indian Creek. Big Sugar/Elk. Flat Creek. A certain stretch of Bryant Creek. That's about it for rivers in MO that I've never floated. I've done almost everything else. The Hailstone stretch of the Buffalo...not to fish, but just to see it. Crooked Creek above Pyatt. The parts of the South Fork Spring River I haven't floated. Myatt Creek. Lower Spring River. The AR portion of the Eleven Point. Upper Mulberry. Uppermost three days or so of Kings River. War Eagle Creek. Mulberry. Big Piney Creek. Middle Fork Little Red. In addition, there are some that I haven't floated in many years that I'd like to revisit... Upper three or four days of the Gasconade. The rest of Bryant Creek. Upper Black River. Middle Buffalo. Big PIney River above Boiling Spring.
Terrierman Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Never been on the Black, Courtois or Huzzah or upper Jacks Fork and want to. I hear the Kings is nice and want to hit that one too. I've floated all of the Buffalo from Ponca to the White River but it's been a long time since I've been on it and want to again. Haven't seem much of Bryant Creek either and need to see more of that one too.
hank franklin Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Al, what's the farthest up the Bourbeuse you've been? One area that I'd love to get to is the lower Meramec, especially from Robertsville SP to Castlewood SP. Maybe this winter. Never been. My grandpa had a clubhouse near Allenton (long gone) and for years I've wanted to see that stretch of river.

The low water bridge that's 7 miles above Tea Access, river mile 4.1 in the MDC Paddler's Guide. I want to float from Mint Spring Access down. The lower Meramec is interesting. Some surprisingly attractive spots along it, and a lot of trashy cabins along the river and huge homes atop the bluffs.
Flysmallie Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 If you haven't been on the Buffalo you have to go. Just make it happen. I really only have one on the list. Devils River in southwest Texas.
gotmuddy Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 The parts of the South Fork Spring River I haven't floated. Myatt Creek. I am going to make it a point to float or wade myatt this year, and there are two floats left on the southfork I havent floated. from salem down to a friend of mines land and below saddle. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
hank franklin Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Al, if you get a chance you might want to run up to Mount Pleasant Ford on the Bourbeuse. This is one of my favorite stretches. Abundance of gravel bars and less silt / mudbank character than what you get as you travel farther down. Below Mint Springs is nice but starts becoming very "Bourbeuse-like" in sections. The upper stretch has an unusual character for the Bourbeuse, kind of similar to the upper upper Meramec.
