I don't have any personal experience but one of the best structure fishermen I know on Beaver Lake is a big believer in them for bass.

saw a video somewhere about PVC attractors. showed the guy roughing up the pipe with coarse sandpaper before putting them under water.

apparently, doing that allows larger micro-organisms, algae, etc to adhere better.

also remember him drilling large holes (3/8" or so) in the pipe, but don't remember the reason? maybe a hiding place for small minnows, fry?

I think where you put it matters more than what kind of object it is. A single old car tire in the right place can yield a boatload of keeper bass over the course of a year.

I'm pretty sure it borders on "littering" but one of the best bass holding things you can 'lose' off a dock is an old lawn chair (or three)....they LOVE those things!

What ever happened to just sinking a cedar or Christmas tree or something natural? The PVC things are great and no doubt work but I am not keen on dumping more plastic and non-biodegradable objects into the lake. I donate plenty of plastic to Table Rock as it is with my jika/texas rigs, jigs and cranks.

People get sold on the PVC sculptures because they get excited about being able to drag a jig through it without getting hung up.

If you ask non-fishing people what it is about fishing that they don't care for, ten percent will say "it's boring" and the other 90 will say it's because they get hung up all the time.

I took down a big old antenna that was on a pole at my place on the river and replaced it with one of the new digital ones for more channels. Now I have this big aluminum antenna that I am thinking would be great to sink in a boatwell at the condos I frequent at LOZ. My plan is to tie a cinder block to the bottom and then hang it from one of the steel cross members on the inside of the boatwell down about 20 foot or so. Should be out of the way there and I would think it would attract fish.

Ya I think that is the real attraction for the PVC...virtually snagless. I know Bill Dance has a sponsor of fish habitat structure made by porcupine fish attractors but they are WAY more costly than just putting an arrangement of PVC together and sinking it.
