I have seen post on here where people say you cannot fish docks on table rock. what is that all about. Up here you csn catch some awful large bass with a unweighted plastic worm around docks. Is it some kind of law.

You can fish them; but I believe there may be a stipulation about fishing too close to docks that sell fuel? (Or something like that)

But, I've noticed a lot of docks put up signs that warn about no fishing, and try to use some fancy language to scare anglers off........which is total garbage. I wish I could find the exact language online about the regulation. But, haven't been able to find it yet.

I had a boat owner give me some 'lip' about not being able to fish around their dock. I was polite, and told him I believed he may be mistaken; and that the regulation only applies to the actual dock selling fuel. Which I was nowhere near. (And for the record, I wasn't even fishing dock slips; jus the outside of the community dock) And I told him I would certainy admit I was wrong if he had the necessary documentation to correct me. He used some foul language and left.

I hate that we even had an exchange like that. Because I think there is already a poor perception of anglers being disrespectful. And I do understand boat owners getting upset finding lures snagged in their boat seats and things; on a lift. So I try to be as cordial as possible in those circumstances.

I hope I didn't veer too far off topic?........and Merry Christmas too!:-)

Here's a list of no-fishing areas posted by Mr. Babler in June 2010. Pretty sure there haven't been any changes since then ...

Here is a list of the docks that you are prohibited from Fishing;

Cricket Creek Marina
State Park Marina
Indian Point Marina
13 Marina or Port of Kimberling Marina
Cape Fair Marina
Baxter Marina
Campbell Point Marina
Viola Marina
Big M Marina
Eagle Rock Marina
Holiday Island Marina

All others are open game. The only other one that might be in qestion is Hideaway up the James as they I believe have gas on the dock. All others are OK.

There must be some justification because everything is open to fish around here. Being a dock owner and having been stolen from I know where it comes from. My dock and a few around it have a reputaion for crappie. There is someone trying to catch crappie nearly every day even in some awful weather. I neve bothered anyone myself. We had a guy here for awhile had powerful sprinkler on the roof of his dock that he would turn on when you came near. conservation agents paid him a visit and he stopped it. I imagine there is some differance between Mo and Ark about this. The corp also. LOZ is privately owend.

i know there are several very good dock bassers here on table rock. me personally hate to have to fish docks. in fact, i really wish we did not have any. it is getting harder every year to parallel a bank because is it one dock after another. that is why i really enjoyed fishing on falcon, no boat docks to speak of. but, we do have them, and there are usually some fish around them, and many like fishing them. one thing that i have observed when i have been fishing with someone that did fish docks, is that it is pretty much a one man project. the front of the boat needs to be positioned so that casts can be presented down the sides and in the stalls and so forth, and from the back seat you pretty much just need to take a soda and some popcorn and watch :=B::have-a-nice-day: . i do know that there are many tactics used to fish dock here, everything from jigs, spinners, senkos, buzzbaits, and just about any thing else in your tackle box. spoons have become very popular here for dock fishing also.

I don't really like to fish docks myself and hope the corp don't allow anymore here on TR. Docks usually get placed where there was good fishing and with the dock being there it ruins the fishing spot. I can understand where some of the dock owners are kind of pissy when it comes to their dock but on the other hand their dock is in everyone's lake. They just own the dock and we have allowed them to place their dock in our water by permits from the corp. When a storm comes up I will pull into an empty stall to ride out the storm. The door swings both ways and fishermen and dock owners needs to know that.. I feel if a dock owner continues to harass people about fishing around the dock then his permit should be revoked and the dock removed. If an fisherman has damaged a dock or it's content then I would expect he be held responsible also.

We have 3 slips (I own 2, my Son has 1) on a 20 slip community dock.

If I'm on our dock when other fisherman come by, I'll tell them which slips usually hold fish, or I tell them about the rockpile I put in a few years back when the lake was really low.

Have had some real nice conversations with folks that have come by to fish.

If I have been out recently, I'll even tell them where I had luck out on the lake.

And, I have never had any issues when I have fished other people's docks.

I'll head for a dock in a bad storm if needed but I stay in the boat. Figure if they are watching me and don't see me walking around then I'm not looking to steal or casing the place. Never been told to pull out and leave either. I think most owners see you just hiding from the lightening.
