Champ188 Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 I can see both sides of it, too. I do fish docks pretty frequently but I take every precaution to be respectful of other people's property, especially when pitching a lure into slips. And I'm certainly going to seek shelter from lightning when necessary.
Old plug Posted December 26, 2013 Author Posted December 26, 2013 They rarely steel off a dock in daylight hours. Some people are inviting it by leaving rods and everything laying around. I think some of it is picking up something on the side while steeling gas. They have has stealing down to a real art around her. I have neighbor just filled a 75 gal tank in think it was and they drained it dry. To do that you gat to have a pretty good electric pump.
inshore Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 years ago on tr there was a lot of standing timber. as the lake has aged a bunch of this timber that was out of the water has simply decayed and is now gone. much of the timber that is covered by water is still standing but is deeper. therefore if you like to fish timber get a good finder and fish deeper. boat docks and mdc cover trees and rock piles are main structure areas and if you are not fishing them you are fishing barren banks.
smbasser Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 Here's a list of no-fishing areas posted by Mr. Babler in June 2010. Pretty sure there haven't been any changes since then ... Here is a list of the docks that you are prohibited from Fishing; Cricket Creek Marina State Park Marina Indian Point Marina 13 Marina or Port of Kimberling Marina Cape Fair Marina Baxter Marina Campbell Point Marina Viola Marina Big M Marina Eagle Rock Marina Holiday Island Marina All others are open game. The only other one that might be in qestion is Hideaway up the James as they I believe have gas on the dock. All others are OK. So for instance, the 13 marina or Port of Kimbering Marina has houseboat docks and other commercial docks in them that you can't fish, I understand that. But the docks that are all the way in the back to the dock that has the Water Patrol boat on it near the entrance of the cove, every dock has a brown "No fishing" sign hanging on it. Only some of the docks sell gas or sell goods/merchandise. Why does every dock have a sign on it? Are they just trying to discourage fishing?
smbasser Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 i'm curious bc the fish in my avatar picture came off of the 4th dock on the right when you enter Port of Kimberling and now i can't fish it?
Sore Thumbs Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 I'm turning you in. Lol Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk 2
Champ188 Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 The restrictions on fishing commercial docks were expanded a few years back to cover ALL docks within a marina complex. Used to be only the gas dock or a dock that had a retail store on it. Now the regs include the entire marina.
Bill Babler Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 i'm curious bc the fish in my avatar picture came off of the 4th dock on the right when you enter Port of Kimberling and now i can't fish it? Never were able to. Those docks have been off limits since I can remember. People however do fish them. There is a particular guide that drive down from Springfield that fishes all the commercial docks in the What's Up complex in Schooner Creek, and that is a complete No, No. Beck and I got beat in a derby a couple of years ago off those 1st. 4 docks you are speaking off. They are off limits but if you are good enough at deception and don't get caught you got it made. Just sayin. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
ten_scoach Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 There shouldn't be any shame pointing out when others don't follow rules intended for us all to follow. The shame should be on them for not following them!
