Wife and I were planning on going to Bull Shoals the first part of May but changed plans and are now coming to TR instead. Hopefully we are coming at a good time. Bill Babler was nice enough to get us scheduled on our first day there so I am sure he will get us pointed in the right direction on how to catch some bass!! We were down a couple years ago but it was middle of summer so I am sure what we learned then will be of no help this spring.

With that said if anyone would be so kind as to give us some ideas on what to expect/need to use it would be greatly appreciated! That way if we don't already have it in the boat we can stop by Bass Pro on the way and stock up. LOL We will be staying at Kimberling City if it makes a difference on what/how to fish.

Don't worry about us frying up any of your bass as we are strictly catch and release on all bass!! I was lucky enough to catch a 9lb7oz largemouth up here and after some quick measurements for a replica and a couple pics was happy as hell to see her swim away to hopefully be caught another day.

Thanks,

Dave

If the spawn is over just bring some Zara Spooks.

Man a good top water bite would be a ton of fun!! Is the spawn usually over by the first week of May?

there are a few years when the majority of the bass will spawn in april, but not many. most of the time, the biggest wave of spawners will be in may. so, for daytime fishing, it will be a big variety of things that will work. sight fishing, if you like doing that will be what many people will be doing the first part of may. tubes work great for this technique, and a drop shot can be effective also. i have seen times that a jig and chunk worked well. there are just lots of ways that will catch bass the first part of may. i am really a poor one to give advice about daytime fishing. because of all the boats on the water anymore, except in the winter, i go more at night, and i usually do not need anymore than a couple of jigs and some trailers and go fishing. enjoy your trip here.

Finesse will work into June...Ned Rig, grub, split shot, dragging a tube. Redfin should be going strong. Gravel in the creeks or going out towards the lake.

Thanks!!

I am going to let the cat out of the bag,as i have recieved a lot of good info from fellow anglers here, I had some good old boys from chicago turn me on to this many many years ago that i met on tr, do yourself a favor and take a few of the original floating rapalas in the 7" length in black back and silver, i believe it is #13, early and late and all day in crappy weather, this is a awesome bait. I have literally tore em up with this bait. some days they want it twitched slow and other days you have to pop it hard to create a spitting affect, last spring was another not to forget anytime soon, if there are alot of storm fronts rolling in and out, it is hard to leave the water

Thanks!! I have some of that color but not sure if they are the #13 or not. Will have to check on that.
