dtrs5kprs Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Too much talk of iced over creeks and muddy 39 degree water drove me to put up some video of a balsa wake bait. Meant to do so a while back (about two years or so), but had to wait until this past year for my camera operator to be old enough to shoot the bait and not the sky (or mostly not the sky) without swimming the camera. Thank you to another OAF member for making me remember this vid with his mention of redfins. Bait is bigger and thicker than a fin, but lighter. Single joint, this one is through wired. Circuit board lip. Still looking for the right hook combo, hard to find a light treble that is large enough. Running a pair of #2 Gamakatsus when this was made, think it really needs something like a 1/0...have some KVD's in that size that might work. Fish were pulling off the bait, but that might have just been the day. Hopefully it warms you up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukcv3o5Qa1Y&feature=youtu.be Bait is the third from the top in the pic below:
Members Jozark Posted January 14, 2014 Members Posted January 14, 2014 Nice Job! That is one nice looking bait. When do most people start throwing wake baits on TBL?
Quillback Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Nice looking bait, can't wait for the warm weather!
Champ188 Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 If they don't come up from 60 feet deep where they've been for months now, we're gonna need to start putting more SuspenDots on our wake baits. A lot more.

fishingaddiction Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Haven't been able to watch the video yet. You tube is blocked by our IT department at work. Are these home made baits? If not what company manufactures them? They look good. Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
abkeenan Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Wow Dave, looks like you have outdone yourself with that waker. AWESOME! Looks like the Brian's Bee's kinda. How much you charging for these big guy? Any discount if I said I root for Duke when I am not rooting for MIZZOU?

The Brian's will chug right along also, and should for $30 or so.
fishingaddiction Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Just watched the video, looks like you may have a good bait. Wakes great, and has a tighter wiggle than the fin. Let us know how it catches them. Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
