GloryDaze Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Hilarious post Smallie, I had actually drafted up a similar one about a week ago but chose not to post. Just like many on here, I was originally drawn to the site by all the great trip reports and pictures. I got to the Ozark streams 2 times last year, count' em 2. So I look forward to seeing all of those reports as it does me good to see them not knowing the next time I may get to wet a line. Paranoid without proof is what I will call it. All these claims that people are trolling these sites looking to steal information, but very little evidence if any that is actually happening. I sure hope to get out this year a little more and practice what I'm preaching..... A nice trip report on here afterwards. Follow me on Twitter @DazeGlory
drew03cmc Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 GD, I, too spend much more time up here in the KC/Lawrence area fishing for green fish than I do in the Ozarks, but I love to see reports and pictures. With this said, there are certain streams and locales that should not be publicized for they could easily be fished out or have irreparable population damage during certain times of year and under certain conditions. I will accept full responsibility when nobody can catch any smallmouth on the Meramec next year.
LittleRedFisherman Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Great Report Smalliebigs....Love it!! There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!

GD, I know how ya feel, although I get out way more than twice a year, I work 40plus hours a week and have a 3yr old girl and a wife who seems to be getting jealous of fishing more and more??? I don't get out nearly as much as I want or need but, thats just the part of my life I'm in right now. In the late 80's and all of the 90's I was fishing 5 days a week no questions asked and now it seems I'm paying for that. Here's to you at least doubling your trips this year....let's see you go on at least 5 or 6 possibly??? My post was to mess with a few, no biggie but, I do have pics but, now it doesn't seem like I should post them......so I will keep those for me and the boys I hang with from here and that's kind of a shame but it is what it is. Smallmouth fishing is not getting better, the MDC has their heads up their asses on a few issues and have the blinders on, so I would go hit the streams and rivers while you can.....big smallies on streams are becoming a thing of the past IMO. Why the state of Missouri allows meat hunters to keep fish in the winter when they might be at their most vunerable posistion of the year has never ceased to amaze me?? oh well it is what it is and nothing will change in my lifetime....so smoke em if you got em Jonny.
Seth Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 MDC is like that with a lot of things. Their are a lot of guys who feel the same way about trophy blue and flathead catfish. Catfishing could be a lot better for big fish if they had regs in place to protect them once they reached a certain size. Why people can't keep a mess of small ones is beyond me. Ten five pound cats is a pile of fillets much less if they were all 10-50 pounds. Really I don't see the point of keeping any trophy sized fish for eating. It's just as easy to catch small ones for the table. Throw unlimited doe tags in their too even though it's hunting related and not fishing.
Mark Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 LMAO - fishing for 99% of us is a "hobby" and not to be taken so seriously. OAF is my favorite website and I check it almost daily. Part of the appeal is that it is usually all inclusive and even a "bait chucker" can be entertained and learn without being looked down upon. Thanks to all the more knowledgeable OAF brothers that have kindly replied to PMs every time I have asked for advice.

All these claims that people are trolling these sites looking to steal information, but very little evidence if any that is actually happening. Well you obviously don't crappie fish or fish the White bass run. The original post that started this had 674 views, know any of them? Smallieb also doesn't post many locations in his backyard but doesn't mind doing It somewhere else. If he's not worried about his immediate area, then why not give locations, and leave posts up? Those fish are very vulnerable and the season is open on them, not that it generally matters. I'm not opposed to giving out information, just advertising it with minute details. I'll always answer a PM. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

I'll always answer a PM I get it Wayne, if you check when I have posted a TR on here I'm not too specific with the details, but do post pics and section of river floated and fished. My personality and line of work relies heavily on metrics and if it can't be measured it doesn't count. That's all I am saying about the paranoid without proof. I am sure a few folks troll around and get the good info and abuse it. However, just like I'm saying I need to see proof they are doing that, I can't prove they are not. Just trying to approach this with a realistic approach. I can assure you, with my limited opportunity to fish an ozark stream I sure enough as heck don't want to have the opportunity and have there not be any fish. It seems to me this feeling of not sharing trip reports falls into the category of one of the unwritten rules of fishing. Follow me on Twitter @DazeGlory
