You know what? If somebody asks me not tell their fishing spot after they take me there, I'm darned sure not going to tell it. It's only common angling courtesy. A whole bunch of people are asking you to be a little more circumspect about posting specific locations in some specific circumstances. It would seem to me to be a matter of common angling courtesy that you think a little about not doing so, and especially not posting it all over the internet.

I definitely agree with you. I really have to be careful what I post, not so much Taneycomo but other waters. Yes sometimes Taneycomo when it's timely. But there's no secret spots here, for me at least. But fishing is my business, not just pleasure.

This is what I did while you guys were sitting inside arguing on your computers.

post-49-0-79375500-1390185376.jpg

All caught on 3/32 oz. brown and orange marabou jigs with orange heads fishing an ultra light strung with 4 lb. P-Line from a boat. Most were caught within 25 feet of the bank under bright sunny conditions in 10-15 mph winds on Lake Taneycomo in front of the landing. Cast jig to bank, let sink and slowly bounce it back in. Set hook when you feel the tug. Released another 45-50 of them. They are not there most of the time. I was just in the right place at the right time today. Fished there many other times in the last couple of weeks and the most I have caught has been 3. Probably caught 15 or 20 trout there today also.

He he he. "No regard for other peoples opinions" indeed. A bunch of people on here have given you good reasons why they are uneasy with posting specific locations under certain circumstances, and all you have is that it's legal, and you haven't seen any evidence of meat fishermen targeting smallmouth, and the sarcasm about expecting Maramec Spring to be elbow to elbow with anglers targeting smallies the next time you go there.

I posted this info before I realized it would put every bodies panties in a wad. In my opinion, it wasn't anything special. As I have stated in earlier posts, if a buddy takes me somewhere that I didn't pattern myself then I will never speak a word. There are plenty of other areas that I have under my belt that I haven't mentioned anything about. I now know I must take those to the grave for fear of whiz zing somebody on here off.

The comments about being elbow to elbow now is just to poke the fire with everybody who is all bent out of shape about this.

If I had known that catching bass in a trout park was the biggest secret to bass fishing in MO, I would have spared myself the trouble of hearing all of you cry about it. I honestly had no idea it was a big deal unlike other spring areas that also hold fish that require a boat and some exploring to find. You can bet I won't ever mention a word about them as they are a bit more personal to myself and other I am buddies with. These are real buddies too, ntw people I talk to about fishing on the internet and have never met in person.

In fact, maybe it is best if I just never post anymore information on here that might help somebody catch a few fish. Obviously the right thing to do is just not say anything at all. I sure wouldn't want to offend anybody who targets other fish either. Of course if it ain't a smallmouth then it is probably OK to post details on catching them since it ain't your precious little fish getting caught.

Maybe you all can convince Phil to remove this thread if it will make you sleep better at night. I could really give a rats behind. To heck with trying to be a good guy and post useful information on here again. Too many cry babies on here that might get upset about somebody catching "their" fish. I'll be happy going out and catching fish that I figured out on my own and being a Nazi like everybody else about sharing a tip or two to possibly help another angler out.

OTF this post was in response to an earlier one when others questioned the self anointed ones reasoning for pointing out a place where smallies were stacked up and easily reached without a boat. So it's not this smart a&&ed post, but the earlier one that wrinkles. He attempted to justify by claiming they were out of season and only stepped in deeper because they weren't out of season.

So the fact he doesn't post about any areas close to him, claims the season is closed, so all in all it's somewhat comical that the princess now repeats it all letting everyone know the fish are still there for the taking and still doesn't get it.

I am well aware of the report that started all of this, and my post was geared towards that. But more generally, I am commenting on those that try to intimidate (or whatever word you want to use) others into not posting fishing reports. If you think someone is in the wrong by posting a particularly detailed report, there is a much, much better way to go about it than ya'll have chosen.

The reality is that unless it's a spot someone revealed to you, or if there are rules on this forum about naming streams, it's a judgement call for each person to make. It's important that each of us try to to be careful not to give up too much on too fragile of a water, but the definition of that is going to be different for different people

At the risk of giving away a good spot, I just ate a pretty good bacon cheeseburger at a place in Kirkwood. It was not as good as the bacon cheeseburger at Cul*****per's in Kirkwood, but it was pretty good. There are even better places than that in StL, but nothing quite as good in Kirkwood. It mighta been better if it involved more dead critters, but I can't be sure.

While walking into the unnamed place I ate, I saw a pebble in the parking lot and on close examination recognized it as geologically identical to the pebbles near where Smalliebigs caught the fish in his opening post so when my smart phone is dumb enough for me to operate its geology app ( or is it a widgit?), I will be able to ID that spot and then I can...ummm.....naw... I wouldn't. I think

Well according to Wayne, it's the legislature.

Huh? What are you drinking Chief?

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

This thread started out kinda funny. SB made me chuckle. Now, after reading, I want to go sew my hair to the carpet.

Something I've learned, if you are really concerned about a spot getting burnt by something a person posts on one of these forums, ignore it.

The more you try to convince the poster it's wrong, the more posts add up, then pages and the more exposure and attention it gets. Pretty soon theres a 5 page thread about it and everyone is reading it.

At least their one person that understands my point of view. I didn't consider a trout park anywhere near the same level as a wintering hole that is hidden among hundreds of mile of river. Those type of spots truly are special in my opinion and you don't see me posting about them. For the ones who don't think I have fishing etiquette can think again, or don't because I truly don't care. You can have your opinion and I will have mine.

Phil is more than welcome to wipe it out as I have stated. Whatever makes gods gift to the Missouri smallmouth world sleep better at night.

FWIW, I don't have a problem with it, but I don't squeeze my smallmouth quite as close to my heart as I used to. It's hard for me to believe that a spot inside a state managed trout area is any kind of secret. Or rather, if that's your idea of a secret, you need to find better secrets.
