Last May I got myself a ride 115, its really naked, and I am looking to add a few extras. I love it and have learned to stand spin fish but not to steady the few times I have tried standing with my fly rod. Mostly take it on Ozark streams, Kings, Crooked Creek, Buffalo River and once on the Elk, but have taken it on a few other larger bodies of water. Thinking about adding a simple locator. Can anyone give me some ideas and weather it would be worth the money and time?

There are guys that do a ton of modification on their yaks and are happy about it. I keep mine more minimal than a lot of guys, but I'm only usuing my yak in creeks. For ME, there is NO need for a depth finder/ fish locator.

I do like my Scotty rod holder mounted front and center. I have a 2003 Tarpon 120 that is battle scarred, but fully functional. Lately, I have been using the anchor cleat that came with the boat. I have a 3 pound dumbell tied to a heavy braided cord that I'll roll off the boat so that I can wade and fish an area w/o concerns about the boat drifting away. It's not a traditional anchor more like a parking brake for LOW current areas.

I have a Lowrance Elite 4x-DSI on my kayak and it works great. Not really used on streams much other than temperature. Works great on lakes though to see what is always on the bottom. BPS has these for like $119 right now. Lowrance has a new version out that has both standard sonar and down imaging on one small unit now called HDI that I really wish I had instead.

Can you use thru hull transducers on yaks?

Yep...Water temps won't be as accurate though. Most people use some duct(sp?) seal to mount it to the bottom of the inside of the kayak. My kayak has a scupper that allows for a transducer though.
