dtrs5kprs Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 I bet if you leave a few in the sun for a while you could get a close looking or unique looming craw. I've heard several people sunbathe their cranks. Or they will explode. Better done with balsa or cedar baits. Plastic baits with rattles can overheat, build up some sort of gas and do everything from swelling to bursting open. Happens a lot with Rogues. Brad's Wiggler, for anyone interested. Champ188 mentioned it in another thread:
Alex Heitman Posted January 30, 2014 Author Posted January 30, 2014 Yeah really never thought about them exploding. Brads wiggler looks identical to the wart. Maybe Champ can elaborate on they run and if they are similar to the wart

Fin and Feather used to carry them, bought several back then. Few little differences...these have a figure 8 sort of link on the line tie, cut that off and use the usual snap. Has a little cup molded in around the line tie, some of the wee warts ( I think) had this feature. Also pretty close (and may be the same) as an unpainted body I used to buy and paint. Casually called it the Wart-a-Like.

Will see if I can round up a pic. Can't tell if the cup matters either way.
abkeenan Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Here are two I have that have the cup at the line tie. Don't think it matters as far as action or performance.
dtrs5kprs Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Nat Brown Craw w/cup. Bait is probably 20years old or so.
Alex Heitman Posted January 31, 2014 Author Posted January 31, 2014 Dtrs5kprs, don't tease us with a box of wiggle warts like that! I'm shaking in my chair just thinking about having a box like that ha!

Tried to be good and not show the whole thing. Had this discussion with my wife a week or so ago...one of the perks of getting old is having a fat stack of wiggle warts. Have to figure some of the sales on ebay are simply folks who weren't fishing the Ozarks in the pre-yankee days. Sorry, meant pre-Rapala.
