Yeah kids here in the Bentonville school district have been out all week - the main roads were in decent shape yesterday afternoon, but very wet and slushy in places - now it's gotten cold and everything iced up, side roads are bad. It wouldn't surprise me if the schools stay closed all week.

There's no thrill like driving 76 or 160 when they slick and snow covered. If you can't find a slick long curvy road with a steep grade, you aren't trying hard enough. It's also hard find a guard rail.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Our numerically small school district is a snow nightmare poster child in many respects. Large geographic area (Trigger Gap on the Kings River to Busch Mountain; Mo. border to almost 412 Highway. Winding old roads with no shoulders. For example, on my way to school I cross a one lane bridge. On my way to Rogers, I cross a different one lane bridge. Rock House road winds south of town for many miles into the Kings River watershed. Most of it stays shaded year round. And like every school superintendent, ours has this motto, "No bus wrecks on my watch."

I actually think we will lose Thursday and Friday as school days as well. If we do then we have a plan in place to make up four and our last day would move to June 10th, assuming we lose no more days.

Makes for a short summer.

We got about 6" in Ste. Genevieve - temp in teens - near zero tonight.

Luckily, we started school earlier than most this year. I'm guessing after this week's snow, we are looking at May 30 as our last day. This will put us over the magic number of 15 days missed - not required to make up over 15. Still, looking forward to spring!!

Don't shoot the messenger but looked at the long range and it shows more snow ( Thursday ) Saturday/sunday ( Tueday ) Thursday ( Monday/tueday ) sketchy beyond that but predictions are the jet stays where it is which means more are likely combined with the Farmers Almanac it aint looking pretty till the first of the month.

Andy, I think 9 is about where we ended up. I heard 13 in Manhattan.

Just finished clearing at least 9-10" here in Lansing with correspondingly awful drifts. Might be the most I have seen here since moving down in 1996. Reminds me of why I left Des Moines.
