Old plug Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 I was in Osage Beach today and was able to view the lake at several location to and from my home out of Laurie. It looks frozen solid. This is just the beginning. We got 6 or 7 days with no temperatures over freezing and several of those days will have bitter cold nights. That Ice is going to be awful thick. When it breaks up. It is not going to be good if the warmer weather comes with much wind. I can only imagine how much a chunk of ice maybe 100 to 200 ft long and a as wide are going to weight if the wind gets it moving them about 5 mph or so. It looks like to me fishing is not going to get underway here for several days.

WHARFRAT Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 I was down over the weekend, and our end was open. A little ice in back of coves, but the main channel was completely open. I drove over to Warsaw, and when I crossed the bridge there on hwy 7, Truman was completely froze over. So I guess it depends where you are. @lozcrappie Â
Old plug Posted February 4, 2014 Author Posted February 4, 2014 thing is it WAS OPEN. It all froze mondey night. I did not go down to the 54 bridgein your area. but it woyld bet its froze. as soon as the wind went flat within a hiur or so it froxe. now if the weather man is correct we are going to be below freeze thru the weekend and some of that will be brutal. I bet some the ice on the lake is at least 6 inches thick allready back in the coves.

Old plug Posted February 4, 2014 Author Posted February 4, 2014 Sure looks like freezing solid is exactly what its going to do. And it is going to be thick too after this week.
laker67 Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 If the lake freezes solid like it did in 93, them dang ole seagulls will be eating road kill again. Main channel froze up and the seagulls and the crows are in the osage beach, walmart parking lot this am. They were fighting over every thing that looked edible.
fishinwrench Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 At least the water testers won't be able to blame GEESE this Spring. Those babys are gone, and probably won't come back for awhile.
laker67 Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Them polar plungers are going to have a hard landing.
