Wayne SW/MO Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 You nailed it, Ness. STL is definitely a cesspool . . . a lovable cesspool, but still a cesspool. Drank me a big tall glass of your flushings this morning and let out a hearty burp. Lets expound on KC for a little bit -- the Chiefs are perpetual chokers, seriously how many great regular seasons have they had, only to lose the first game of the playoffs? -- how is a giant badminton shuttlecock a work of art? and when will that exhibit be over already? -- I swear if I hear someone say, The country club "Plawza" ever again, I will throw up on them. -- Johnson County, KS residents carry on like they are uppercrust elite living in the Hamptons. You live in Kansas people! -- okay, you got some pretty good BBQ -- wow, what an impressive skyline with that one skyscraper. -- almost forgot the Royals! but thats an easy to one forget! -- more fountains than Rome and more boulevards than anywhere -- as a tourist pitch, seems like some really desperate claims. -- last time I was at the Kansas City zoo, one of your orangatuans was chewing bubble-gum and blowing giant bubbles; no-joke and true story. -- Jayhawk fans and rock-chalk You forgot Ward Parkway. I could throw in The Paseo, but they don't talk about that anymore. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

It should be noted that we Arkies consider KC to be the epitome of a sophisticated big city.

ollie Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Personally I lived in both cities as well at one time or another and I would definitely pick KC over the Lou any day. I just never felt comfortable there. Must be the redneck in me! Oh yea you forgot a couple more things about the Lou. The way they say qwuater for a quarter and fotty four for the interstate. Those always drove me nuts! "you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!
Justin Spencer Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 As outfitters we like to tell war stories about stupid behavior or strange requests, at the end someone ALWAYS says, they were from St. Louis weren't they, 90% of the time they are. Of course the other 10% are the ones on this forum. More fly fishermen come here from the lou than from KC, probably not anymore though. I've brought some St. Louis friends your way and they are a constant source of embarrassment for me. If my real estate buddy isn't asking you how much you paid for your property, my other friend is trying to sell you a truckload of aluminum foil. Meanwhile, their wives are in your shop looking for Daily's Daiquiri pouches in the freezer section. Now that I think about it, can't wait for Summer! Cenosillicaphobiac

Wayne SW/MO Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Wow! Your bigotry is showing through there Wayne What have you got against old money? I don't have any, money. Hey, I remember when the Paseo was the upper crust of the middle class. Prospect was the place to avoid. I started school around 44th and Tracy. We hung out at Grain Valley a few years back when why wife worked there temporarily and there was a murder every night in north end of the Prospect/ Troost war zone. Did I ever tell you I graduated from SM? Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Did I ever tell you I graduated from SM? The one they call SM North now? I didn't know that. Sounds like you've lived a lot of different places. If you drive down Paseo now, you can see that it was a really great neighborhood at one point. Some of the houses are in good shape still. My dad grew up in a nice area over in KCK (10th and Quindaro) in the 30's that is really, really bad now too. John
blue79 Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 My uncle used to own alot of carwashs on troost, prospect, paseo. He would go get the money out of the machines and his brother would sit in the car with the gun and keep watch.I like how you can drive down 71 to get downtown and they put stoplights on the highway and make you stop in the nicest part of town so you can look around at all the niceness. We would work downtown and be pulling all the equipment back home and get stuck in traffic around 63 or meyers blvd and hear the gunshots.I will run the redlights just so im not the first car by the crosswalks. My girlfriends oldest boy is moving from stockton down to the plaza tonight and i have warned him.I hope he waits till daylight to drive down through there.
