Thanks, I will give Cody a call. I tried yesterday but it went straight to Voicemail so figured he was out on the water with his phone off or out of signal.

Goggle-eyed, send me a text or pm and I will gladly share the info. This place has the highest concentration of redfish you are likely to ever see without going to venice, LA.

That being said so far our trip has been a dud. The weather has been TOO good. The colder it is the better the fishing is. We fished yesterday, today, and I am fishing in the morning, but so far we have only boated 5 keeper reds and one real nice 17" trout.

I have heard that cold water can really concentrate the redfish, but I haven't seen it myself. It kind of hurts my feelings that a Louisiana boy has caught less Redfish my lifetime than BilletHead did on his first trip ever. This butt hurt might just motivate me to get back down there a catch a few more redfish.

I'm sorry your numbers are down Cody. Did you catch any of the other fish that swim down there? Are you catching very many unders? They're still a lot of fun.

Dang Cody! You are spot on about the weather. Our best day was the worst weather wise. Did the water temp raise a bunch? I think 44 degrees was our water temp low and it got to 54 degrees one day. North wind was our friend and the South wind the enemy. One day the air temps did not get much out of the 30s, mostly it stayed in the upper 40s to 50s. The day we left it got into the upper 70s. We wish our trip would coincide with yours so we could of met face to face and maybe fished together.

water temp got up to the high 50 low 60s. Right after we left I talked to a local at a gas station that told me what I was doing wrong. Apparently the south wind pushes bait and fish way back in the bays. He told me to go to cowtrap and fish the cut across from the mouth. The tides were ALL screwed up. It was a learning experience. I am already planning another trip, but it will be probably around matagorda.

I ended up boating about 10 fish. 6 keeper reds, three rat reds, and a 17" trout. Here is a pic of the biggest red:
