I think the claim is world record brown for ice fishing. Ice fishing being the key qualifier.

A very nice fish indeed, a catch we would all like to have. I have to agree with CWF, and disagree with you. A seaforellen brown is long and lean unlike a New Zealand pellet fed fish. This Milwaukee fish would have to be around 44 inches long to be around 42 lbs. 43.75inch is the previous world record. Missouri fish can attain this 39 inch length, and we have a 38.5 on record. My best guess would be around 28 to 30 lbs for the fish in the video.

So you think it was close to the world record weight wise? IGFA keeps length, and catch and release records. There is no way that fish is close to a weight world record at that length and girth, however because the video puts so much emphasis on the length of the fish I bet it would be a length world record through ice.

Big yes, world record no, at least 10 to 12 lbs short of a world record. igfa does not keep length records as far as I am aware. Only all tackle weights and line class weights.

I am glad they recorded it because it was fun to watch and to see such a nice fish. But in the last few second you see they are really close to the shore and there is some building in the background. Could it be at a trout pond? Just saying, it still is a nice fish, bigger than anything I have ever caught.

Well I stand corrected, had never even heard of this program prior to now. I wonder if you have to carry their official measuring devise to make the grade. Igfa has some pretty tow the mark rulings. Any way it is another step in the right direction. Maybe state agencies will adopt also. 38.5 will be the mark to beat in Missouri.
