I launched out of Big M at 0700 this morning and fished until 1 PM. Did find a bite, I fished a point on a cove mouth that had some deep trees and caught 10 bass off that one point. All but one came on a tube, the exception came on a Megabass 110. Fished a whole lot of other places and only caught 2 more bass, those 2 came from inside a cove off a rocky bank. All the bass were largemouth, no spots or smallies. Nothing big, 13-16" fish.

I saw Mr. Babler out there and talked to him for a bit (nice meeting you Bill). He had caught some fish and I believe he said one of them was 6 lbs. Hopefully he'll have time to give us an update.

Water temp - 38-40 degrees.

How do you rig your tubes QB ? Looks like a round jig head in the pic. Personally..I go Texas rigged with a 4/0 and 1/4 oz bullet weight.

I T-rig also, well Texpose, with the hook point exposed just out of the skin. I believe in that pic, the weight is under the fish. I'm using 3/0 hooks, Mustad Big Mouth tube hooks, with a 3/8 oz weight. The bites, for the most part, are very light and hard to detect. If you miss the bite, they drop it.

You had a good day QB. Based on the reports that are coming in the fishing is getting somewhat better, at least in the upper part of the lake. The K City are is tough right now, with all of the dying shad. Read Bill's post, he had a good day with the rig and a jig fishing 20 to 35'. What was your best depth?

Thanks for the report and rigging method, QB

Best depth was around 20 feet. I didn't see any shad yesterday either in the water or on the finder. No bird activity either.

Quill...those fish are just begging you to throw the "little rig" at them. It will ruin that tube for you.

I'm not sure I want to go out and equip myself with all the little rig stuff. I am thinking it may be about time to break out the finesse jig.

With the next 3 weeks tournament heavy, we kind of got popular. My first phone call this morning was at 6:30 and I have had 3 since plus the email box is taking a pounding.

These fish are not everywhere up there, and I believe Quill will agree there are usually multiples in a location if you can find them.

I don't know how well I would do running up there from Kimberling City without fishing the White River. Quill and I are up there 150 plus days a year, and that helps quite abit.

Be just fine with me if the guys stayed below Campbell Point, but with all the shad dying and they way the lower lake is fishing, I think we will be seeing some tourism on our junk.

Had a guy tell me this morning, he thought 22 pounds for two days on the CPA would be the winner. I would think it would take 26 to 28 pounds, or 13 or 14 per day.

Good Luck
