Members Chris Musick Posted February 19, 2014 Members Posted February 19, 2014 I've been trying to buy my first boat. Made a deal with the mrs so I get 2k of taxes to buy a fishing boat. I have two little ones but they wont be able to fish for at least 5 years. I know NOTHING about boats except I do not want a jon boat.
GloryDaze Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 $2K will get you a nice new canoe or nice fishing kayak... Coosa with some modifications. If you're looking for much more I honestly don't think you're gonna find something much bigger than a Jon boat with a tiny motor.... then again I could be totally wrong. blue79 Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 craigslist!! keep checking every 10 minutes and have your phone in your hand and ready to call.you can find a good fishing boat if you see the ad first and make the first call.
loo10 Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 I have what is called a Paddle Jon I have decided to sell. It is an excellent boat & very versatile in the Ozarks. It is kind of a cross between a light Jon & canoe. Kinda hard to find. This is second one I've owned. I have only used it maybe 3 times. Perfect for float trips, Taneycomo, etc. it comes with boat, galvanized trailer, remove able seats, custom trolling motor, & battery. I haven't listed it yet but plan to. I would take $2k for it all. I live in Springfield. Happy to send pictures if you text me at 417-773-7850. grizwilson Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 If you think 5 years before your kids can fish, they have not been conceived yet.... my boys were fishing before they could walk, youngest was in the boat 10 days old. (made them sleep in life jackets) The paddle john Rich listed is likely the most versitle value out there river and lake. g “If a cluttered desk is a sign, of a cluttered mind, of what then, is an empty desk a sign?”- Albert Einstein
Flatbottom Boy Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 1985 Ebbtide Dyna-Trak w/90hp Johnson V-4 serviced by Fishinwrench this past season. Good trolling motor and two fairly fresh batteries. $1400 all three titles in hand. If you are interested let me know and I'll give you the rundown on the entire boat.
fishinwrench Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Yep that'd be a good'n for the money. ^^^ It does catch fish!
Flatbottom Boy Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Ok Wrench but I'm pretty sure the guide had more to do with that than the boat did. Although the guy on the trolling motor had his sh$t together in that wind.
Members stitch Posted March 6, 2014 Members Posted March 6, 2014 I agree with checking craigslist like a fiend. Good boats can be found cheap, especially during the off season, and ESPECIALLY if they need a little work.
