Guest Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 This original post was a scientific comparison & a very good one at that. If your not cranking it fast and crashing rocks, your not getting as many bites as you could. It's a frustrating little crankbait but it puts big bass in the live well. So it's worth the trouble. It's funny how many guys hate wiggle warts but continue to comment anyway. Everyone's got an opinion about what their alternative bait is.

Old plug Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 i do not hate wiggle warts. i just had my way of fishing them. i might try the real fast retrieve sometime. like i said before i might have some out in one of the plastic boxes somewhere.i just do not use anything anymore that has a lot of resistance in retrieve. ican tell you this though lures fix into categories. You should understand and everything they can do. I have caught a lot of bass on wiggle warts on the slow retrieve I di not say I did not catch bass on them with a slow retrieve. but do not think it is a all around thing that is just like nothing else cause its not.
Guest Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 I've caught plenty of bass on bombers, rebels, etc. The wiggle wart is a niche bait, that excels in 45-65 degree water.
1farmer Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 I have a question. Wasn't V210 a color added by rapala?
dtrs5kprs Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 I have a question. Wasn't V210 a color added by rapala? Nope. They just managed to mess it up. V210 was a much duller green before Rapala. In the bottom right corner on the chart from the '90s.

I agree. Like they say in the BBQ world, low and slow! I perfer to let the bait do the work instead of trying to work the bait. But not always. There are exceptions. From my experience a faster retrieve tends to attract younger, read smaller, fish. A slower retrieve tends to attract older, read bigger, fish. This is based on my time on the river not lakes.
