Pepe Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Quick R&D question; Anybody have good results with a Fat Ika? I guess you could call this this the "dingle-ball" version;) As always, thank you for your input.
dtrs5kprs Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 GYCB makes a Tiny Ika, usually find them in the panfish sections. Use them at times with the finesse heads. Has a different tail than the Fat Ika, more like a scaled down Super Do. Can't see why they would not work on bed fish, maybe out dragging for the tube fish.
Quillback Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Haven't fished them myself, you'd think they would work.
motoman Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 I've done well on the damiki hydra at the rock in the spring. They look very similar; but I believe the skirt is actually poured from a buoyant soft plastic, and the body, not-so-buoyant. Slow drag on the bottom.
Ham Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 I like a Fat Ika. I use it as a heavy solid body tube on a football head. I've caught good smallmouth on it. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Pepe Posted February 25, 2014 Author Posted February 25, 2014 I figure making baits is like music. There are only so many notes and so many ways to string them together, so similarities are inevitable. I'm not interested in making exact copies - but I do have some fun riffing on it. I'm just not sure about these dingle-balls at the end of the skirt. Thanks for the input
J-Doc Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Considering they are not that popular, it makes me want to buy a bag. ? Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!
